This morning, our CEO and Founder, Charlene Wilson, had the opportunity to record our commercial for the upcoming Randolph County United Open for Business Pitch Competition at Vision Corner Learning Center with KISS TV! 🎥

One of the things we absolutely LOVE about this is that KISS TV is student-led and gives students real, hands-on experience with things like video production, social media, marketing, interviewing, and everything that happens behind the scenes.

We are so thankful that Randolph County United not only supports local businesses and nonprofits through this pitch competition, but also sees the importance of involving our youth and giving them opportunities to learn skills they can actually take with them into the future.

Obviously, at Start With Art, anything that gives kids an opportunity to learn, create, try something new, and be involved in their community is something we can get behind.

And I have to say…the students did an AMAZING job making the whole process easy and comfortable!

We are getting closer and closer to pitch night, and we can’t wait to share more about what we’re hoping to accomplish for Start With Art and our community. ❤️

A huge thank you to the Saratoga Lions Club for sponsoring one of our Monday Mental Health Teen Nights along side our friends Chasing Sunsets Inc.

Their support means so much more than simply helping us cover the cost of an event. They are investing directly into the youth in our community and helping us continue creating a safe space where teens can come together, eat a meal, participate in activities, connect with others, and most importantly, be reminded that they are not alone.

But they took it one step further. ❤️ Members of the Saratoga Lions Club also took the time to write individual words of encouragement that we will be able to hand out to the teens who attend our events.

I absolutely LOVE this.

Sometimes we have no idea what a young person is carrying when they walk through our doors. A few kind words written by someone in their own community might seem like something small, but it could be exactly what that teen needs to hear that day.

Organizations like the Saratoga Lions Club are so important to small communities like ours. They show up, they serve, they support local projects, and they invest back into the people who live here. When community organizations, nonprofits, businesses, schools, and individuals all work together, we are able to make a much bigger impact than any of us could make alone.

Thank you, Saratoga Lions Club, for believing in what we are doing, for supporting our teens, and for reminding them through your words that people in their community care about them.

This is what collaboration over competition looks like. 💚

We appreciate you more than you know !!

Our CEO & Founder had the opportunity to be a part of Challenge Day at Monroe Central Jr.-Sr. High School with the 8th grade class today. ❤️

If you have ever experienced a Challenge Day, you know just how incredibly emotional, powerful, and important these days can be.

Challenge Day gives students a safe space to break down some of the walls we all tend to put up. It encourages them to look beyond what they see on the outside and realize that every single person is carrying something. It opens conversations about kindness, empathy, mental health, bullying, acceptance, connection, and what it really means to show up for one another.

There are tears. There are hugs. There are hard conversations. But there is also so much love, understanding, and connection in that room.

One of the biggest things these kids get to see is that they are not alone.

They are loved. They are important. Their story matters. And sometimes the person sitting right beside them is going through something they never would have imagined.

I truly believe Challenge Day is something every teenager should have the opportunity to experience. Our young people are carrying so much, and sometimes they just need the opportunity to see that other people understand. That there are people who care. That asking for help is okay. And that no matter what they may be going through, they do not have to go through it alone.

Days like today are also such an important reminder of why we do what we do at Start With Art. Our mission has always been about more than art. It is about giving kids healthy ways to cope, creating spaces where they feel safe being themselves, ending the stigma surrounding mental health, and making sure our youth know they have people in their corner.

A HUGE thank you to Reid Health for sponsoring Challenge Day and helping make an experience like this possible for our local students. ❤️ Investing in the mental health, emotional well-being, and connection of our young people is an investment that can make a difference far beyond just one day.

And thank you to Monroe Central for continuing to create opportunities like this for your students and for allowing our CEO & Founder to be a small part of such an impactful day.

Our kids deserve to know they are seen.
They deserve to know they are heard.
They deserve to know they matter.
Most importantly, they deserve to know they are loved and never alone. ❤️

And if you are an adult who would like to volunteer for Challenge Day, I HIGHLY recommend reaching out!! ❤️

This experience will be held for 8th graders throughout Randolph County, and I promise, it is just as impactful for the adults in the room as it is for the kids.

If you want to be a part of something that truly matters and reminds our kids that they are loved, supported, and not alone, reach out to your local school counselor and ask how you can help with Challenge Day.

Our kids need adults willing to show up, listen, connect, and remind them that they have people in their corner. ❤️
