Good morning all. Hope Spay and Neuter is looking for a fill in vet for our clinic. We had one scheduled for March 4, 2024 that had to cancel on us last minute. If you know of one that might be interested please let me know. They can contact me at [email protected] or via fb.

I know there are several transport groups on here that I either run with or see posts from time to time. There is a sweet pittie here in Lexington, KY looking to catch a ride back to Washington. Owner died and he ended up in Lexington Fayette Animal Care and Control. Is there anyone that might be able to help get this sweet guy back to his original rescue. I realize Washington is a long way, but he deserves a second chance.

At last. I have been trapping a colony about 90 minutes from me for about 3 years now. When I can get solid appointments to get them tnr. Yes its a drive into country but people keep dumping. I managed to get a calico mommy today I have been trying to trap forever and the big tom who is daddy to many. I also got last kitten from the litter I couldn't catch earlier this summer. Still two mommas and more kittens to trap. One didn't show up and other is nursing. So will need to make more trips. Also realized today dog still needs to be fixed. At least its making a dent. Calico was hungry. I hadn't even made it 50 feet to back porch before she was circling the trap. No more babies for 3.

Life for Pets is sad to announce at this time that we will be suspending our s/n vouchers for the immediate future. We are working on raising funds so we may be able to reimplement this program in the future. If you live in Clark County, contact the shelter about their s/n program. If you live elsewhere reach out to Hope Spay and Neuter in Versailles or Woodstock in Lexington. Appointments will not be immediate as most clinics are booked out for at least 2 to 3 months.

Giving Tuesday is a little more than a week away. Please help us continue our life saving mission. 12 cats went to spay and neuter clinic this last week, thanks to the generosity of our donors we were able to provide owners this service for free. Join us November 29 at 9 am to kick off this year's Good Giving Guide Challenge.

As I was reading a post from a sister rescue in Florida last week, I realized that we are very much the same. As fall arrives and we prepare for the winter our need for funds to continue our spay/neuter, Trap-Neuter-Return and food assistance programs is still a great need. While both of us wish money would magically appear to cover our expenses, it just won't happen unless we reach out and ask.

Like myself, we both hate asking for money/donations. Life for Pets will be participating in the Blue Grass Good Giving Challenge for the eighth year in a row. Your donations through this online event help us continue to provide free spay and neuter vouchers, TNR vouchers, food and medical assistance when we are financially able to do so. On average our donors have helped us raise between $15,000 and $20,000 during the Good Giving Challenge. The funds have helped to s/n and TNR many owned and feral cats/dogs and to provide financial support via food and medical procedures over the years.

Later this month I will be taking 13 cats and kittens to a local TNR clinic to be fixed, vaccinated and ear tipped. The ear tip allows us to know if a cat has already been fixed. They will then be returned to their caretakers, who will continue to feed and look after them. As a majority of these cats are female, estimate is about 60 or more kittens who won't be added to the population, through the simple process of spaying the mom before she can get pregnant.

The Good Giving Challenge will only run for four days this year. We are told by the Bluegrass Community Foundation that they have may fun events planned for these four days that will help you, the donors raise more money for the participating non-profit organizations. The Clark County Bluegrass Foundation will continue to match all donations dollar for dollar, until eligible Clark County nonprofits have reached $7500 in donations.

Will you help Life for Pets "fix" the pets and feral cats of Clark County and the Bluegrass? Donations can be made from 9am November until 11:59 pm December 2, 2022. Our link is below.

This is sweet Daisy. She is a TNR success story from Keeneland. Sadly, many cats will hitch a ride on a trailer and end up left at a racetrack. Thankfully we have people like Daisy's caretaker who will take responsibility and feed and care for them. I got a call about her today because her caretaker was being displaced for the week due to the Breeders Cup races. Did I have a crate she could borrow to keep Daisy in.? I offered to do one better and let Daisy hang out in my cat room for the week. Thankfully I live close to Keeneland and my cat room was available. She is a sweet girl who is obviously loved and well taken care of.

Calling all my animal friends and rescue fanatics. Have you ever wondered what it was like to volunteer at a spay and neuter clinic. Well now is your chance to find out. Hope Spay and Neuter Clinic in Versailles is in serious need of some devoted volunteers. We need volunteers to help in surgery, in the cat room, the dog rooms, in the front office with scheduling and with our landscaping. Clinic is one day a week and depending on what you are interested in doing some hours are flexible. Great experience for someone who might be interested in going into veterinary medicine or another animal related field. (859) 873-4673 leave a message and a volunteer will get back with you.

Sometimes even Batman needs to be rescued. Batman came to Hope to be neutered a couple months ago. His daddy initially had to cancel his appointment because he couldn't find him a ride. Hence operation Batman. I went and picked him up the night before his neuter and brought him to clinic the next day then returned him to his daddy that evening. His daddy is going through some tough times and is working on getting to a better place. He had to go out of town and had no place for Batman to go. Once again, I stepped up and helped find a place for Batman to stay. I was able to network among volunteers and we found him a safe place to land for the week his dad was gone. Batman enjoyed his week vacation, but I am told was very happy to be back with his dad. This is rescue, not only do we work with the animals we also work with their parents.
