We had our first members' meeting of 2025 at our new location: Village Square Restaurant on the Downtown Mall. What a pleasure! Such a delightful atmosphere, superb food and service. Thank you Courtney for accommodating our bi-monthly meeting schedule and Paul for your adept manner of taking our food orders in such a quiet and orderly manner while we conducted business. Again - a true pleasure. As President of the Old Town Club - Thank you Village Square.

Thanks to Holly Roberts for sharing with our club about Love to NIC. The nonprofit is making big impacts serving the homeless by providing meals, quality shoes, socks, and waterproof winter attire.
Hearing Holly speak you can hear how much she truly cares about the people she is serving. It’s all in the name of her son, Nic, who she lost nearly 10 years ago. Nic suffered from mental illness struggles. Holly thought it was only fitting to honor Nick’s memory by serving a population who often deals with similar concerns.
What’s perhaps most impressive is how each dollar donated is leveraged to make the most impact. The organization recently took $1800 and used it to purchase 525 shoes valued at $48,000!

I am going to work my way back through my my wife’s Murder Mystery fundraising events for the Frederick County Educational Foundation.
Some characters were more fun, but all of the “plays” were a hoot. They were all “non-scripted” – we just knew who was going to be murdered and why we, the various characters, might have a motive. Much easier than having to memorize a script – and WAY more fun when you were not sure what was going to be said!
The latest one (2024) was a takeoff on Seinfeld. I was Mr.Ross with Mrs. Ross, the parents of Susan Ross, who died. The central theme.
Viva, Frederick County Educational Foundation annual Murder Mysteries. I was pretty drab, but Mrs. Ross was a huge hit.
