There are hundreds of veterans who are buried at Wildwood Cemetery but are not recorded as being veterans in the existing databases. A Scout in Troop 507, Madison von Mering, is working to address this issue. Her Eagle Scout Project will methodically go around the cemetery to account for all the veterans buried and collect their information (war served, position, DOB, DOD, and any other relevant information available). She is also raising funds to help support replacing the missing grave markers, which are used by members of our community to remember and honor our veterans, especially on Veterans & Memorial Days. There are an estimated 2,000 veterans buried in Wildwood Cemetery. The grave markers cost $11 each and as you can imagine is a costly endeavor.
