Jason is a Guinness Book of World Records record holder, State Champion and National Champion gardener from our area. He will be speaking on soil and gardening tips and tricks. He will be bringing lots of sample supplements to enhance your spring planting and boost your garden this year. He has set aside time for Q & A to answer everyone's specific questions.

Lake Neff is currently closed marking the first stocking of trout this year. The lake will re-open at 7:00AM on Saturday March 21st. The Chapter Lake and Conservation Committee will be serving breakfast sandwiches, coffee and THE WORLD'S GREATEST HOT CHOCOLATE! Please come down, enjoy a sandwich, some drinks and fish for trout. Members are allowed to bring guests for a $10 fee. Guests must register at the food table (Layman Shelter)

November Chapter Updates:

Our chapter food drive goes through Nov 18!

The fall trout stocking has been completed. These trout average 15-24”.

Did you know this barrel in the parking lot by the splitter holds chunk cherry wood? We do not cut up cherry wood for firewood but dry it and split it into small pieces for members that enjoy using smokers. Please help yourself!

The Wi******er Izaak Walton will be hosting a Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources two night Basic Hunter Education Course at the Wi******er Izaak Walton League on October 24th and 25th, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm. The course will be taught by Lloyd Winters. This is the Basic Hunter Safety Class required to obtain a Virginia Hunting License.

Please note, this is a two evening course. Students MUST ATTEND BOTH NIGHTS. The class will begin promptly at 6 pm each night, and will conclude at 9 pm.

Self-study is required prior to attending this class regardless of age or experience. Students are required to read the Today's Hunter Student Manual and complete the 4-page Chapter Review Exercises (located in the back of the manual) prior to class. Instructors will verify that the student has done the self-study. Students will only be certified if they present the completed Chapter Review Exercises to an instructor at the time of check-in. STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PRE-STUDY PRIOR TO CHECK-IN WILL NOT BE CERTIFIED! Some questions on the final test will be covered only in the self-study material. The downed tree closed our range for about 6 hours on Thursday. The range was open to members again the next morning. We cannot thank volunteers Dave Campbell, Terry Henry and Mark Mineo enough for the fast response time clearing the road! Gerald Crowell arrived the next day and cut up the tree for firewood. In our time of need, our volunteer always step up!
