Texas Land Trust Council

Texas Land Trust Council TLTC and its member organizations believe the conservation and preservation of Texas land is of critical importance to the strength and future of Texas.
(1)

A non-profit organization working to conserve the lands we love and the waters we depend on in partnership with more than 30 land trusts across the great state of Texas. The Texas Land Trust Council (TLTC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that builds and supports a strong, active coalition of more than thirty organizations working to conserve the lands and waters of Texas. Since the late 1

990s, TLTC has served as a powerful voice for conservation to protect drinking water, Texas’ iconic wildlife, and the rich natural and cultural heritage of the state. Together and in partnership with private landowners and citizens, it works to ensure that the Texas landscape – rich in history, natural resources, breathtaking views and recreational opportunities – can be left intact for all citizens today and in the future. To date, TLTC and its members have helped to conserve more than 1.84 million acres statewide.

WOW! Congratulations to our friends at Texas Land Conservancy on the conservation of 1,735 acres of prime endangered species habitat.

We're excited to announce the permanent protection of two major Golden-cheeked Warbler Conservation Bank projects, Festina Lente Ranch and Danner Ranch, totaling 1,735 acres of prime endangered species habitat.

Golden-cheeked Warblers are the darling treasures of the Balcones Canyonlands and Edwards Plateau but the conservation efforts to protect their habitat have far-reaching impacts. The entire ecosystem is interconnected, and by preserving the warblers, all Texans reap the incredible cascading benefits of these biological and ecological resources. Thank you to Bandera Conservation Corridor, LLC for partnering with TLC to bring this project to completion!

What a week in Washington, D.C.!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Advocacy Days 2026 a huge success. Land trust leaders, staff, volunteers, partners and Alliance team members came together with one shared purpose: to ensure the voice of voluntary private land conservation is heard where decisions are being made.

This year, representatives from 35 states, plus Washington, D.C., participated in Advocacy Days. Together, we completed a record-breaking 230 meetings with lawmakers and congressional offices, with 152 attendees joining in-person and virtually.

Participants heard directly from senior administration officials, agency leaders and bipartisan champions in Congress who recognize that conservation strengthens communities, protects working lands, supports local economies and benefits everyone.

Our work is deeply collaborative. When the land trust community shows up together, we are stronger, louder and more effective. Thank you to everyone who joined us in D.C. to stand up and speak out for conservation. πŸ’š

What a great day at the ribbon-cutting for the new Karst Canyon Preserve Trail at the Jacob's Well Natural Area today! TLTC is proud to have played a small role in advancing this project through our Transaction Matching Grant Program. What an amazing conservation property that preserves important habitat (heard endangered Golden-cheeked warblers singing there today!), aquifer recharge, and public access! Congratulations to our friends at The Watershed Association Association for leading the charge!

Congratulations to our friends at the Coastal Prairie Conservancy on the conservation of this important and beautiful part of the Katy Prairie!
"The Coastal Prairie Conservancy has permanently protected the final 221 acres of Three Oaks Farm, completing a years-long effort to conserve the property and closing a critical gap in the Katy Prairie Preserve."

The deal secures a critical piece of one of the region's last prairie systems.

It isn't often that we get to stop and celebrate our milestones and some of the folks who help us get there along the way. Two weeks ago, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Texas Land Conservation Conference at a dinner and award ceremony where we honored some folks for outstanding contributions to the event's success over the decades and to the larger success of the conservation community in Texas. Cheers to you all once again! And thanks again for a fantastic celebration! 🍾🍾
