As Imagine Wimberley shifts to adapt to the changing needs in our community related to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are taking a new approach to our mask fundraiser. Masks are now widely available and folks are able to pick the mask they like best, if they can afford them. So we are moving away from individual sales to fundraising for groups that are working with marginalized and underserved groups.

Our first joint fundraiser will be with ManoAmiga and Where We Thrive.

Mano Amiga works to educate, advocate, coordinate, and organize alongside and in favor of immigrants and low-income residents in the rural I-35 corridor between San Antonio and Austin: Guadalupe, Caldwell, Hays, and Comal counties. They have given out over 4,000 masks to date at Covid testing sites and in bail bags which are given to individuals upon release from jail.

Where We Thrive (WWT) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in Lockhart, TX in June, 2019, whose mission is to help Rebuild, Restore, Mentor, and Develop our community resources to improve the lives of our citizens living in poverty with emphasis on at-risk youth and the elderly.

Specifically, WWT seeks to provide mentoring programs for at-risk youth such as computer labs and career education programs. We propose tutoring and motivational programs geared to encourage our children to seek scholarships and grants for higher education institutions. WWT also seeks to provide services specific to our elderly such as healthy meals and exercise programs to help with mobility/balance and will sponsor and recruit volunteers to help with minor home repairs and maintenance.
