6:10 AM - Heavy rain and new flash flooding concerns now shifting to Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette counties. 2-3" already around Bastrop and that portion of the line is slowing down as it moves into Fayette county.

Widespread light/moderate rain continues back to the west. Not heavy enough to worsen the ongoing flash flooding, but enough to keep everything soaking wet and slow. PLEASE drive carefully and stay away from low-water crossings. Dozens of them are closed due to flooding.

4:40 AM - We are live with weather/flooding updates on your teevee, but here's a quick status check in the meantime.

Torrential rain continues, but it is now moving a bit faster from northwest to southeast after a quick 2-6" of rain came down in many locations around/south of Austin and through Blanco County. Some back-building to monitor around Blanco where 5"+ has already fallen.

🚨 KWVH WEATHER ALERT- FLASH FLOOD WARNING🚨

As of 7:00a.m. - The National Weather Service has extended Flood Warning until 9:15a.m.

As of 6:15a.m.- 2 inches of rainfall has occurred and no road closures have been reported.

As of 3:14a.m.- The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Hays County and surrounding areas. Heavy rainfall could quickly create dangerous conditions on low-water crossings, rural roads, creeks, and flood-prone areas.

Please avoid unnecessary travel, never drive through flooded roadways, and stay alert for official updates. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

⚠️Worrisome trends in the short-term forecast for this evening. FLASH FLOODING is a growing concern around the I-35 corridor.

I first warned you about these trends last night, and they have only continued in the data today. Heavy rain currently developing near highway 281 will expand and slowly move eastward into Travis, Hays, and Williamson counties. We have rather consistent indications that this will try to produce widespread 2-5" rain totals with isolated amounts over 8".

This tropical moisture will lead to very efficient rainfall rates as high as 4" per hour, so those kinds of totals are not far fetched, but it is very difficult to determine where the most extreme rain totals will occur until storms have already moved in.

Please stay alert! Remember, if you see high water over a road, your truck is not big enough and you are not Michael Phelps. Just don't do it.

*sigh* okay, time to pay close attention to the forecast over the next 36 hours. As of this evening, the threat for localized (but significant) flash flooding is trending a bit higher Friday into Saturday.

I mentioned this possibility in my last post, but now we have some new data to support it. Rounds of heavy downpours through the day on Friday could lead to additional heavy rain Friday night into Saturday morning, something we've seen before in the midst of a moisture-rich atmosphere.

This is far from guaranteed and it's impossible to pinpoint exactly where/if a bullseye of flooding rain will materialize, but isolated half-foot rain totals are not out of the question. I have a fresh update on the teevee tonight at 10, and I'll be covering this extensively on Friday. Stay alert!

The Hays County Sheriff's Office assisted the U.S. Marshals Service’s Lone Star Fugitive Task Force with a warrant service off of West Valley Springs Rd. in Wimberley. The individual was safely taken into custody; however, there may be an increased law enforcement presence in the area.

KWVH is following reports of an isolated law enforcement incident in the Woodcreek North area near Arapaho.

A law enforcement source indicates this may involve a barricaded person. At this time, Hays County has not issued an official alert.

Residents are encouraged to avoid the area and allow law enforcement room to work. We will provide updates if additional confirmed information becomes available.
