As we recognize February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month it's important to remember that teen dating abuse is not about anger, it is a pattern of coercive and destructive behaviors used to exert power and control over a dating partner. Teen dating abuse often escalates over time. Abuse can happen at a very slow rate so victims don’t always recognize their relationship has gone from healthy to unhealthy. DVCC provides free and confidential counseling for teens and young adults who are experiencing dating abuse. If you or someone you know needs help, call our 24-hour hotline at 203.588.9079. Everyone deserves a healthy relationship!

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. According to the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, approx. 1.5 million H.S. students nationwide experience dating violence from a partner. Dating violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, verbal, or digital abuse. Locally, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) has provided counseling and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their children. DVCC is the only state-certified agency recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) serving the communities of Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Weston and Wilton.   If you or someone you know needs help, call DVCC’s hotline at 203-588-9097, or call/text the Ct Safe Connect Hotline at 888-774-2900. 💜
