February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. According to the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, approx. 1.5 million H.S. students nationwide experience dating violence from a partner. Dating violence can be physical, sexual, emotional, verbal, or digital abuse. Locally, the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) has provided counseling and advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their children. DVCC is the only state-certified agency recognized by the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) serving the communities of Norwalk, Stamford, New Canaan, Darien, Westport, Weston and Wilton. If you or someone you know needs help, call DVCC’s hotline at 203-588-9097, or call/text the Ct Safe Connect Hotline at 888-774-2900. 💜
