Dear Friend,
I’m writing to let you know more about the Sacred Song Circle at the Rise Up Center.
When I was asked to participate in forming this, I felt an enthusiastic “YES”! I asked my husband Michael if he would join us on harmonium and he happily agreed.
DanaLynn and I spoke about our intention in creating this opportunity. We wish to offer a space for people to come together—in spirit, in heart, in voice. We would like for it to be a monthly event of co-creation, by and for the community on the second Saturday of each month at 6pm.
I imagine us gathering informally to lift each other up with the shared vibration of music. Such attunement has a healing effect on ourselves, on our surroundings, on nature, and more.
So far, we have offered kirtan and I have sung some of my own songs but we would be very open to different styles and contributions. For example, last month, we sang a chant that Chris had received in a dream. It was beautiful to hear how our different contributions built on his melody and words. On August 9th, Sat Tara will once again bless us with her harmonium and devotional songs.
Would you like to join us for an evening of sacred music? All ages, please! Perhaps you have a song you would like us to sing, an instrument you would like to play for an evening, or a poem you would like to read in the stillness after meditation. These are only a few ideas we had. Be inspired!
Are you uncomfortable sitting on the floor? We have chairs and pillows, but bring your own folding chair and blankets for comfort if you wish.
We are looking for drummers (i.e. mrdang, tablas, djembe…) that might be interested in supporting the circle long-term.
