Ever heard of Wilton's Senior Citizen Science (SCS) Program?

How many times have you told someone about the animal, strange plant, insect or frog that you saw in your backyard? Maybe it was a hawk or eagle perched in a tree alongside a Wilton road. You got excited and even felt a little privileged to have witnessed one of nature’s miracles.

The SCS program is for adults age 50+ who want to help track the changes in Wilton’s ecology from birds to bears, woodchucks to wildflowers and even algae to ash trees.

Do you know how the gazebo next to the Police Department came to be?
On the bank of Stony Brook next to the Wilton Riverwalk path, this gazebo was meant to serve as an observation platform for the Wilton Senior Citizen Science Program. Funded by a grant through AARP and contributions from the family of Dr. Raymond Galloway and the Wilton Alliance--community volunteers came together to construct this new gathering space.

Have you checked out our newest trail, Carnival Woods? At the bottom of Carnival Hill, you can take this quick walk through the woods to the northern side of the hill. The Commission cleared this old trail this Spring to make it walkable again.
