❤️ Wilton Comes Together for Greta! ❤️

Our Wilton community has always shown up for one another, and now one very special little girl needs our support. 💕

Six-year-old Greta has been courageously battling a rare form of brain cancer for most of her life. Through countless surgeries and treatments, she continues to light up every room with her beautiful smile.

Her mom, Emily, is raising funds for a personalized cancer vaccine that could offer Greta new hope for the future.

🙏 Even a $5 donation can make a difference! Every contribution and share brings this sweet little girl one step closer to a chance at a healthy, happy childhood.

💗 Let’s rally around Greta and her family, Wilton! Together, we can make a difference.

LOCAL SHOUT OUT📣🖼️ Wilton Art In The Barn. browngrotta arts/Continental Drift: Encounters, North and South (October 17 - 25, 2026)

Geology as Metaphor at Continental Drift at browngrotta arts

🌍 Geologists describe continental drift as a process so slow it escapes notice, yet it opens oceans, raises mountain ranges, and rearranges whole landscapes. browngrotta arts borrows that language for Continental Drift: Encounters, North and South, on view in Wilton, Connecticut, from October 17 to 25, 2026. The metaphor is more than a title. It is the exhibition’s organizing logic.

🧭 The idea is that culture moves the way land does. Techniques, materials, and ideas rarely stay where they began. They drift, press against one another, and produce something new at the point of contact. Across North, Latin, and South America, that process has been underway for generations, and 46 artists in the show each occupy a different point along it.

🧵 Fiber is an apt medium for the argument. Weaving, knotting, coiling, and stitching are among the oldest human technologies, carried across continents by migration, trade, and teaching. A way of handling a thread can travel with a person and take root somewhere far from its origin. The exhibition invites visitors to look for those moments of transfer, where a method learned in one place reappears, altered, in another.

🔄 The show does not treat influence as a one-way current. The gallery frames the project from two vantage points: featuring significant artists from the United States, Canada, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, and Colombia, and artists from inside and outside the hemisphere who name these continents as formative. Geology offers a useful caution here. Plates do not simply separate; they collide, buckle, and fold into one another. Artistic exchange works much the same way.

🏛️ For an architecture and design audience, the premise echoes questions that the built environment also asks. Materials carry histories, vernacular techniques migrate and are reinterpreted, and place shapes form just as contact does.

LOCAL SHOUT OUT📣🖼️ Wilton Art In The Barn ~ browngrotta arts/Continental Drift: Encounters, North and South (October 17 – 25, 2026)

🏛️ browngrotta arts arts in Wilton, Connecticut, turns its attention to the Americas with Continental Drift: The exhibition brings together more than 40 fiber and sculptural artists whose work traces how artistic ideas travel, change, and take root in new places.

🌎 The show approaches its subject from two directions. The first gathers significant artists from the United States, Canada, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina, and Colombia, offering a view of art across North and South America. The second includes artists from inside and outside the hemisphere for whom an artist, a body of work, or a lived experience from these continents has been an influence on their own practice.

🗺️ The title borrows from geology. Continental drift describes the slow movement of land masses, a process that both separates and reshapes. The exhibition applies that idea to culture, proposing that artistic traditions also migrate, collide, and transform as they cross the territories of North, Latin, and South America. Rather than organizing a survey by nation, the show follows lines of influence across borders and generations.

🎨 Founded in 1987 by Tom Grotta and Rhonda Brown, browngrotta arts has long specialized in contemporary fiber and textile art. It represents artists who have helped define the field since the 1950s. Its exhibitions combine wall works and sculpture in a living environment, so the pieces can be seen as part of a space rather than in isolation. Continental Drift arrives as the gallery prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2027.

✨ A full-color catalog will accompany the show, with an essay by Sarah Parrish, associate professor of art history at Plymouth State University.

📆 Continental Drift: October 17 – 25, 2026. Hours are 11am – 6pm on Sat and Sun, the 17 and 18; 24 and 25; 10 am — 5 pm Mon – Fri, the 19 – 23.
