Embrace Compassion

Embrace Compassion We encourage and give hope to children in hard places - working as a team to make life just a little bit brighter. Everyone can make a difference!

Embrace Compassion was established in 2010 and is a grassroots organization partnering with a beautiful rural village in Ethiopia to encourage family preservation, education, and share humanitarian relief. Our Bright Spot sponsorship program encourages children to stay in school and provides supplies like shoes, uniforms, school notebooks and hygiene materials. We also volunteer in the same area a

t the local hospital bringing helpful supplies and spending time in the pediatric unit. After the founder's son was diagnosed with childhood cancer in 2020, the team at Embrace Compassion expanded its programming to include making life a little bit brighter for cancer kids. Embrace Compassion currently provides programming at a farm in Sherwood, Oregon where cancer kids and their siblings can safely play and just be a kid. Each month we offer a themed "Brighter Box" filled with farm goodness to continue the farm experience at home. We love children and partner with the families to share hope and encouragement, one child and one family at a time. We believe everyone can make a difference! Embrace Compassion is a 501c3 and all gifts are tax deductible. Partnering with Embrace Compassion truly makes the life of a child brighter. Sign up today to sponsor a child in rural Ethiopia or to provide programming at the farm for kids with cancer! One-time gifts also make what we do possible!

September is pediatric cancer awareness month.

His life was beautiful, ordinary, and so much fun… until it wasn’t. And there wasn’t anything we could do to stop the suffering and death. His Neuroblastoma journey was 9 months long. $1.1M Unmeasurable pain, suffering and trauma for all of us.

The treatments used for children are outdated and rarely work. The outcomes are bleak. The secondary cancers from the treatment itself come later when least suspected.

I wish I didn’t have to say we know, but we do.

We miss him. Pediatric cancer is not rare. There are many more like us.

Julian Peace, forever 12 days short of 2 1/2 years old.

Join us at the farm to volunteer or shop our flowers and produce. We would love to see you!

I’m so grateful for the farm. It’s a stunning space that encourages life for plants and humans. Community is found among the story telling and connecting. Joy and delight are found between the rows of flowers and clusters of grapes. Giggles show up while feeding the goats grass.

July 12th. Six years ago we celebrated the life of our little boy, Julian Peace, with the first garden at Pearl Street Urban Farm. We had no idea what would happen next but we were determined to fight for our joy and continue to love ourselves and others.

I’d like to remember that day, six years ago, as a the beginning of something new and beautiful, more so than the end of the most incredible journey of doing daily life with Julian.

We are grateful for the children and families, the volunteers, the donors, those learning skills and people who call us their friends.

These gardens represent so much love shared. Today is a day we remember and express our gratitude for new beginnings and all that has come from this land and Julian’s farm over the last 6 years.

Happy 8 1/2 year old birthday JuJu! Happy garden dedication day. We miss you forever and always.

Volunteer emails were sent out regarding our Saturday farm experience for kids in cancer treatment. If you would like to be included, and did not receive the email, message farmer Jennifer Bridges!

Volunteers are always welcome and needed at the farm. Individuals, teams, gardeners, novices, young and old. There is a place for all of us at the farm!

We are working at the farm Monday through Friday from 9 to 3 and at the Sherwood Saturday Market on Saturdays!

Come see us, buy a market treasure and enjoy !
