Transparent Moment:
This year will be 6 years of operating a non-profit charity organization. I must say that this is definitely not for the weak. I have had people to decline donated items that were brand new, still in the package just to have a give away a month later with the same items that they declined from me. I have had people to accept donations but when they were dropped off, they conversated with the person I had helping me unload the items and told me that if she knew it was me, she would have declined.

There have been people who would rather pay $1200 for a service from others that goes into their pockets but not want to donate monetarily for the same service for a food drive🤦🏾‍♀️. I have had people to report my page recently, did not want to donate because my business name was too long, tell me that I was doing too much and all. There have been worse that has happened and many many times I wanted to quit.

But.....I'm still here and I'm still pushing because I'm being obedient to the dream God gave ME! This is NOT the end🙌🏾

The Bible says in James 1:2 to consider it joy, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Moral: Expect opposition when you are doing right. Everyone may not like you or what you do in the community but keep pushing forward, shake the dust, forgive quickly and pray for your enemies!

Sooo Branches Extended did a BIG thing👏🏾
It might be small to some but it's major for me! I feel like I felt when Branches was officially a registered Non-Profit, then a 501(c)3 not long after. For a very long time, I wanted to own or lead something effective and life changing for those who are in need! 90% of Branches' services are behind the scenes and I never imagined that I would be led to be so public.

More red flags🚩🚩🚩

🚩 Copies of your return include edited information, different font styles, missing info or incorrect info.

🚩 Your preparer basing your tax prep fee on the amount of your refund.

🚩 Applying YOUR refund to THEIR personal bank account ( Diversion tactic).

🚩 Invent fake additional income to qualify or inflate deductions.

🚩 Misrepresenting credentials

It's still tax time and there are a lot of
disappointments that show up.

Here are some red flags pertaining to tax preparers.

🚩 When you ask a question, they reply "it's ok, don't worry" without a truthful and detailed explanation.

🚩 They promise large refunds without going over your income, deductions and credits.

🚩 They do not know when or if to use deductions and do not know the difference between credits, deductions or the qualifications for certain ones that are available.

🚩 They do not send the FULL copy of your return and ALL relevant info.

🚩 Ghost preparers...they say your return is submitted and then they disappear with your personal info and your money.

🛍️What else is in your bag?
Some have overlooked these credits because they may or may not make a huge impact. Let's see what's in your bag.

* Charitable contributions can include 14 cent per mile deduction for driving while doing charitable work.

* There is more than one trillion dollars in tax deductions available for taxpayers. Ask your Tax Professional to see what you qualify for.

* If you are a rental property owner you can claim deductions for end of lease cleaning like gardening, maintenance and repairs, and pest control.

* If you use your personal mobile phone to make or receive business related calls, you may qualify for a tax deduction for up to $300 per year.

* This one may seem funny but it's true. You may qualify for a deduction for business related handbag purchases. For example, if you purchase a high-end handbag to carry your laptop or work papers you may be eligible for a deduction.

* If your business has a guard dog for security purposes on your business premises you may qualify for a deduction. As much as we would like to claim our dogs, Chihuahuas, poodles or other small dogs may not qualify as a guard dog for a business.

Many people miss out on tax credit that they may qualify for. Let's see what can be in your bag.

*If you pay for dependant child care for someone who is under the age of 13 or have a spouse of any age who may be mentally or physically unable to care for themselves and you still have to work or look for work, you may be qualified for the child "Independent Care Credit".

* If you have other dependents such as non-relatives or qualified relatives who lived with you all year, you can claim up to $500 of "Credit for Other Dependents". This is different from Child Tax Credit which applies to children under the age of 17.

* If you are a business that hires individuals of a target group that include people facing employment barriers such as ex-felons or welfare recipients, you may be qualified for the "Work Opportunity Tax Credit" per eligible new hire.
