GX4 Adaptive Archery Making archery accessible for everyone

It is 30 years since a 13-year-old girl from Orange County in California traveled to Jakarta in Indonesia and returned home with the USA’s first compound gold medal at a senior world championship.

Why don’t we patent our products or want to make a profit? We are asked this all the time.

If you’ve never thought about it…
How much does it cost an able bodied archer to participate in the sport of archery? To just go out and shoot your bow in your backyard you would need the bare basics of a bow, arrows and a target.

For someone with a physical disability, they need the same items plus their adaptive equipment. The adaptive aides to shoot a bow could range from less than $20 for a mouth tab to over $3000 for a custom shoulder release made by a prosthetist or orthotist. (And no, insurance will not cover these items. Grants are available from some nonprofits but many people do not qualify.)

In any hobby or activity that I have participated in as a person with a physical disability it has cost me more, sometimes double what an able body invests to participate.

With this in mind, this is the reason we do not patent our adaptive equipment or profit from it. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the wonderful sport of archery with minimal additional financial burden. We are servants and enjoy giving back to the archery community.

And look at the joy that it brings! Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

Contact us if you’d like to make donation to help archers with adaptive equipment. We are a 501c3 nonprofit and donations are tax deductible.

Sometimes things don’t go as you hoped they would. But I am honored to once again win a mixed team medal at an international competition with my buddy Kevin Polish Jr.

We both had some crazy things happen this week that caused us to struggle and not shoot up to our expectations. We were not a top ranked team in mixed teams so we had to fight our way up through the field to make it to the medal rounds.
We had to support each other through these matches like never before. You don’t get to see it but we are always positive and lifting each other up even if there is a bad shot. We know how to joke about them but let it go for the next one.
It’s crazy to know that there’s someone that 100% has your back with no guilt for a bad shot. They are there to pick things up when you’re down, and you do the same for them. I think some people forget about this these days…We just do our best, we are a team, we are Team USA!!!

We are usually cutting up, keeping it light and being successful with our own brand of craziness on the shooting line.
I definitely credit this medal to KJ, for powering through an injury right before we went out to shoot our medal match! I wouldn’t have been there without you and look forward to more matches together buddy!!!

Dear Jersey Thief,

This letter is to you, yes you…the person who decided to steal a jersey from our nonprofit booth at the Vegas Shoot ‘24 trade show while we were in Hall A/B shooting on Sunday afternoon.

You had to be some random individual that was just walking through because we, meaning us archers as a whole, do not do things like this. We have integrity and look out for one another.

Well, guess what! All you had to do was ask and we would have gladly given it to you. Maybe you’ll see this and decide to be a good human and make a donation to help the adaptive archers that you hurt and stole from.

We work hard to provide adaptive equipment to archers free of charge. Many times this equipment is paid for from our personal finances because guess what... humans are selfish. We rented a booth to bring awareness to para archery and the adaptive equipment that we provide. Donations help us keep this nonprofit going and we can only provide so much by ourselves.

We have received no donations this year and will soon have to charge para/adaptive archers for their equipment. This equipment will be an extra expense that they have to fund just to shoot archery, something that you probably take for granted. So the next time you decide to take something that isn’t yours, think about who you’re really hurting.

Best regards,

GX4 Adaptive Archery and our adaptive archery equipment recipients
