🍂 For the second week of the Fall Stewardship Challenge, TWC staff and volunteers came together to clean up and replant an area of Wiles Woods impacted by invasive plants and accumulated trash. We removed close to a ton of material, planted around 100 trees, and recycled 80% of what we removed!
🌳 This planting builds on invasive species removal completed before this event. Invasive plants can compete with young trees for light, water, and nutrients, making forest regeneration more difficult. Our goal is to help establish the next generation of trees in this disturbed area.
🌳 As those trees grow, we want them to contribute to woodland structure and wildlife habitat, supporting the long-term recovery of Wiles Woods. The clean-up and planting connect our earlier restoration work with that future, giving us a foundation to build on through continued stewardship.
