What a great day for WWII Army Veteran Mr. Grimes … celebrating his 100th birthday in style … He received over 700 birthday cards, received a key to the City of Wilmore, Kentucky, and was surrounded by family and friends! Thank you to all those who mailed cards … thank you to Mayor Rainwater and members of his City Council, and all other friends who came out to celebrate his big day!!! 🇺🇸 Remembering 9/11

This remembrance will mark the inaugural public appearance of the Wilmore Public Safety Honor Guard, representing the partnership between Wilmore Fire and Wilmore Police.

The community is invited to join us on Friday, September 11 at 8:30 AM at the Wilmore Municipal Center as we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the heroes who answered the call, and the spirit of unity that followed.

We hope you’ll join us as a community to remember, honor, and never forget. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Across 20 plus states,,,,over 600 birthday cards were mailed for WWII Army Veteran Glen Cummins! The cards along with the Key to the City of Wilmore were presented to him today at his 100th birthday party by Mayor Rainwater… including a proclamation “Glen Cummins Day” in Wilmore!

His church Porter Memorial opened their doors and over 100 family and friends showed up to wish him a Happy Birthday!

Mayor and Wilmore community has reached the Louisville news … it is not too late to send birthday cards to these WWII Veterans! First veteran to celebrate their birthday August 30 is Mr. Glenn Cummins!

Four Kentucky World War II veterans, turning 100 or older this year, are being celebrated with a special birthday card drive organized by their community.

A NEW TRADITION OF SERVICE 🇺🇸

The City of Wilmore is proud to announce the formation of the Wilmore Joint Agency Honor Guard—a collaboration between the Wilmore Fire Department and Wilmore Police Department.

Bringing together members of both agencies, the Joint Agency Honor Guard will represent the City of Wilmore at times when honor, dignity, and respect matter most. The team will serve at funerals, memorial services, ceremonies, civic events, and other occasions where our community and public safety family come together.

This collaboration reflects something bigger than either agency alone: a shared commitment to serve, protect, and honor our community and those who have dedicated their lives to doing the same.
