Along with our many volunteers that helped with the Salute To Service event at Thomson- Hood, we were blessed and honored to have US Navy Seal Veteran Ian Brandewie among those that helped make the event a great success in honoring our Veterans. Ian played a major part in assembling the Vietnam Wall because he knew the reflection and healing that would touch the heart of his Veteran brothers and sisters that would have the opportunity to be in the presence of those 58,000 plus names listed.

Our hearts are broken that Ian has departed this life. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

Wow … you all came through with over 1,000 birthday cards to the birthday boy WWII Navy Veteran Vince Guagliardo who turns 101 September 25th! He celebrated a few days early with his family and friends! Thank you sir for your service! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

What started with a young Cub Scout’s goal and very few flags … turned into great efforts from Ashley Atkins,Janet Vandeventer, Donna Cornett, and an amazing young boy Brentley! His goal was to appropriately retire at least 250 flags for his badge project.

The torn and tattered flags kept coming in … even by the truckloads.
So many got behind Brentley’s mission … some of the folks that helped out were were Camp Nelson National Veterans Cemetery, VFW 680, American Legion 313, American Legion 341, and so many more.

Last night (on 9/11), Brentley reached his goal with 250 plus flags and his ceremony. What an amazing kid who sets a fine example for both adults and kids!

If you are wondering how the small town of Wilmore received part of the steel beam from one of the towers taken down by the enemy … we can thank Scott Wiggam for making it happen. Wilmore and Scott knew on that day and the day they received it in 2002…they would always share in the national burden of loss and hurt felt in New York, the Pentagon, the Stoney Creek Township of Pennsylvania … this would forever be a symbol to reflect on as a community-wide remembrance. 🇺🇸
