The fall riding session will begin Tuesday, September 8 and run till Oct 31. We are in need of volunteers for the fall session. Please contact us by PM or 859-519-0471 to set up a volunteer training if interested in helping us out! We will be changing things up with the horse show this year, instead of fall, we will have the horse show Spring 2027. A lot of outside activities were interfering with some clients being involved so I am hoping this helps.

How does riding help students with emotional regulation? Students are very motivated to have a good ride and have a good connection with their horse. As soon as they have a little outburst of frustration or anger- they will find that the horse just totally shuts down and does nothing that they ask. So, little by little, they learn how to regulate that emotion and put that energy into figuring out how to better partner with their horse. Nothing motivates quite like a horse.

🐴 Why We Do What We Do Wednesdays 🐴

This week we’re highlighting a simple stable task that provides BIG therapeutic benefits: manipulating fasteners! Buckles, clips, snaps, and straps may seem like everyday barn chores, but they help riders build important life skills while working with the horses.

✨ Therapeutic Benefits of Fastening & Unfastening Tasks:

πŸ”Ή Fine Motor Skills – Pulling, pinching, and manipulating small pieces strengthens hand muscles and improves coordination.

πŸ”Ή Bilateral Coordination – Riders use both hands together in different ways at the same time, such as one hand stabilizing while the other manipulates the fastener.

πŸ”Ή Motor Planning – Helps develop the ability to figure out how to move the hands and fingers to complete a task successfully.

πŸ”Ή Sequencing Skills – Encourages understanding the correct order of steps needed to complete a task, like unlocking or fastening a buckle.

πŸ”Ή Visual Motor Integration – Combines what the eyes see with how the hands move, such as lining up clips, holes, or straps accurately.

In the barn, everyday activities become meaningful therapy opportunities that build independence, confidence, and functional life skills β€” all while connecting with our amazing horses. πŸ’™πŸ΄
