Refuge for Women Kentucky is proud to introduce Brooke Gill as our new Executive Director.

Brooke officially joins our Refuge team this week, bringing more than 15 years of nonprofit leadership experience to our Kentucky team. Throughout her career, she has focused on building strong programs, partnerships, and systems of support for children, youth, and families. Her experience spans residential centers, transitional youth and independent living services, public health, mental and behavioral health, family support, education and community-based initiatives.

A word from Brooke:
“What excites me most about stepping into this role is getting to know the remarkable women Refuge for Women Kentucky serves and hearing their stories of hope and new beginnings. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve and support this incredible staff, build on the strong community of Refuge for Women Kentucky partners and help expand our reach so more women can experience the life God intended for them, a life of joy and freedom.”

Refuge for Women Kentucky staff is putting the ‘LOVE’ back in pickleball. 🍕 and pickleball brought our entire Kentucky staff (new faces too!) together for an afternoon of fellowship at our community partner, the Pickleball Paddock.

Exploitation doesn't always begin with violence or kidnapping. More often, traffickers look for vulnerabilities and unmet needs with the false promise of being the one to meet those needs.

👉If she's lonely and insecure, he'll be her friend or Romeo.
👉If she's struggling to make ends meet, he'll be her provider or show her how to make quick money.
👉If she's from an unstable home, he'll be her protector.

Understanding the tactics of traffickers can help us all to better recognize the warning signs and help prevent exploitation.

Last week, two more women found safety at our Stabilization home in Louisville. We are thankful... 💜
