SARUS FESTIVAL

SARUS FESTIVAL The SARUS FESTIVAL for Site-specific and Experimental Art, August 8-10, 2025, is an event organized by ALBAN ELVED.

This performing arts festival was the first of its kind for New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick Counties and received great feedback and enthusiastic participation. Some people even moved to the area because of it.... The following year the festival grew to two weeks of programming, outreach and workshops, performances and lectures and film showings. Performers from New York City, Chicago, North Car

olina and many other places brought exciting, unusual, daring and inspiring performances to audiences of all ages. Performances took place at Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach on the beach strands, in downtown Wilmington, in Burgaw, on the UNCW campus, the Red Barn Studio Theatre, at UNCW and at Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, NC. In 2014 Bellamy Mansion and Jengo's Playhouse joined the list of venues and in 2015 the Wabi Sabi Warehouse became a venue and the Community Arts Center became the homebase for the 2015 SARUS Festival. An art exhibit and children's program was added in 2015 as well.

Here are some pictures from the Sarus Festival that took place this past weekend! A big thank you to everyone who came out and supported us and to all the artists who contributed their pieces. It was truly a wonderful weekend with many connections made! We hope to see you here next year if you missed it!

3-4:30 pm:CREATIVE ECOLOGIES SYMPOSIUM: PANEL & AUDIENCE DISCUSSION, @ movie Theatre at Jengo's Playhouse​, Tickets: Presentation & Panel Discussion is: $15

5-6:30 pm: SYMPOSIUM WORKSHOPS, @ Jengo’s Playhouse, Open to all, Tickets: Workshop (includes full symposium access): $50
