Happy New year! After a break in December the Leadership Clinton Youth Collaborative is back! We are at Ferno today and we are learning about "modeling the way". We started with a quick discussion on what Modeling the Way. We then had a tour from the facility executives and now we are working on "true colors personality tests". This test will help students learn more about their strengths, needs, values & joys.

Today was Education day for our adult Leadership Clinton class!

We had a jam packed schedule and we are so thankful for everyone who opened their doors to us!

Day started at Wilmington Christian Academy with a tour from head of school Bill Davis and class member Danae McKain.

We then traveled to Wilmington College Academic Farm and equine center followed by a tour of Wilmington College - Ohio.

Next was Great Oaks Career Campuses where they treated us to lunch and a tour. While at the campus we learned about the Dolly Parton imagination library, the Clinton County Youth Center & the Clinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities. With guest speakers from each organization.

We wrapped up our day at the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center!

This is just a little touch of all we did today and learned but we had a fantastic day full of meeting community members who help in the educational field every day!

Today was our adult History and Government day and it was a busy one! We want to thank everyone who opened their doors to us and showed us the amazing behind the scenes actions that makes Wilmington work day to day and teach us some of our rich heritage!

We divided into two groups and toured:
The Clinton County History Center where director Shelby Boatman gave us an in depth tour of the museum
The Clinton County Veterans Services Office where we saw the old county jail
The Clinton County Sheriff's Office to see the new jail
Another stop was the Clinton County Offices for a tour of the county government offices. Led by County Auditor Terry Habermehl
Peoples Bank downtown gave us a tour of their building (did you know it takes up three store front areas!?) and their over 100 year old vault
And a big thanks to Wilmington Savings Bank for providing lunch for our day and allowing us to take over your beautiful office!
And history day is complete without a tour of the historic The Murphy Theatre, Wilmington, Ohio

Wrap up of our History and Government day. We packed our day full of exciting things for all the students to enjoy. We appreciate all the volunteers who help with the class and all the facilitators at each location!
First stop was Clinton County History Center for a tour with director Shelby Boatman learning about the history of Rombach place and viewed their award winning display of the civil war and how Clinton County was affected
Next stop Clinton County Veterans Services Office
Then we took the tunnels under the Clinton County Courthouse and came out to the beautiful interior of the building
Peoples Bank was our next stop where we got to see a bank vault over 100 years old and they also provided lunch for us
Onto the The Murphy Theatre, Wilmington, Ohio for a tour of backstage, projector room and everything in between
We then finished our day at the Wilmington Fire Department where the youth learned about steps to becoming a fire fighter and some even tried on the full gear
Packed day with so much learned and we can wait for our next youth day next month which is "youth helping youth" day in Blanchester!

The youth learned firefighter tactics and enjoyed learning about the gear!
