"Rebirth and Renewal" was the theme for Rex, the King of Carnival in 2026. Take a look at the Rex "bulletin". This is a tradition that has been followed by any of the traditional Krewes in New Orleans, allowing those who couldn't make it to the parade to still enjoy the beautiful work of the Royal Artists!

A quick recap of Mardi Gras Day 2026 in the Cape Fear. This city shows up.

And hold on tight! We're taking this to the next level and I think you'll be hearing our name quote a bit over the coming year!

Here's some useful information:

Carnival (Matdi Gras) season is January 6th to Midnight on Mardi Gras Day.

In 2027, Mardi Gras Day is February 9th.

THEN in 2028 something VERY RARE will happen. It will be truly historic!

More info coming tomorrow. I hope you all had a great day of reflection!

This ship is still passing to open waters... there's still time to get on board!

Thanks to the StarNews for the mention for Sundays Parade!

Some of you may be wondering... a Mardi Gras parade after Mardi Gras?? While this is typically a Carnival faux-pas (due to the religious observance of Lent), the exeption is made for processions that were postponed due to reasons beyond their control.

This manuvering is a must as Krewes are completely funded by it's members and parades take a lot of time, money, hard work and dedication behind the scenes. While we are still introducing our mission to the Cape Fear, it's vital that we stay true to the commitment to community that comes with Carnival traditions.

As the late-great Barry White sang, "Practice what you Preach"!

Today is Ash Wednesday. You may have seen a few smudged foreheads around town!

In the Catholic Church Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40 days of preparation for Easter.

Technically it's 47 days (in many family's this makes Sundays a "cheat day)

Catholics generally give up something in order to make a personal commitment in self discipline. In addition, Catholics fast on Ash Wednesday and obtain from red meat on Fridays..

While this may sound strange, it's this practice that lead to Louisiana becoming the "seafood capital of the world" in many circles.

Crawfish boils and fish frys are a way of life during the season of lent. Not only because of the religious guideline, but because these are communal dining experiences. Friends and family host friends and family. Restaurants open up the patio doors and set up long tables. Even the churches and community non profits get in on the action as great fundraising opportunities.

After all, what better way to keep a community connected once the carnival celebrations come to a close?

Come see is this weekend and learn more about our mission!

Saturday at The Rift -Mardi Gras in the Cargo District with the Port City Players

And Sunday for the Sunset Park Neighborhood parade.

Well have some great Mardi gras and louisiana items for sale raising funds for our 2027 Mardi Gras parade!

Mood announcements coming very soon!
