PCAD's own Executive Director, Claudine Wiant recently joined the Office of the Child Advocate’s statewide training effort, co-presenting Mandatory Reporter Training at Supporting Kidds in Hockessin alongside Victoria Graden of DFS’s Permanency & Adoption Unit.

We were proud to connect with this incredible group of mental health professionals providing vital programming, crisis support, and grief services to Delaware’s children and families.

Strong partnerships. Shared purpose. Big impact.

Today, PCAD Program Coordinator Niagia Williams brought P.A. Bear to New Castle County Head Start at Manor Park, where 31 Pre-K students explored some big ideas about feelings, boundaries, and personal safety—all in ways that make sense for young children.

Through P.A. Bear, children learned how to:
• Recognize and talk about different feelings
• Understand the difference between “public" and private places
• Learn that everyone has four private body areas
• Identify the difference between good, bad, and secret touches
• Learn and practice the three safety rules
• Identify safe adults they can turn to when they need help

At this age, building a foundation for personal safety starts with simple, concrete conversations—and a little help from a friendly bear.

Every conversation is an opportunity to help a child feel more confident, more aware, and better equipped to speak up and seek help.

Thank you to New Castle County Head Start for welcoming P.A. Bear into the classroom!

Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the families, friends, and communities forever changed that day.

We honor the courage of the first responders and the countless acts of compassion and service that emerged in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

41,428 Students. 112 Schools. One Powerful Goal. 💙

Because of the generous support of people like you—and the Delaware school districts, charter schools, and private schools that believe in the power of prevention—B.E. S.M.A.R.T.® reached more children than ever during the 2025/2026 school year.

Together, we reached:

📚 9 Delaware school districts
🏫 13 charter and private school partners
🎓 112 schools statewide
💙 41,428 students

But behind every number is a child learning skills that can make a difference: how to recognize an unsafe situation, trust their instincts, speak up, and know where to turn for help.

41,428 students means 41,428 opportunities to build knowledge, confidence, and safer futures.

And we’re just getting started.

👉 Help us make an even bigger impact in 2026/2027. Whether you’re a parent, educator, school leader, community partner, or supporter, you can be part of helping more Delaware children B.E. S.M.A.R.T.

Tag a school, educator, or community leader who should know about B.E. S.M.A.R.T.®—and let’s spread the word! 💙

Here’s to an even bigger, safer, stronger 2026/2027 school year!
