The Gamma Theta Lambda Education Foundation, Inc. (the ”Foundation”) is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation. It was established February 11, 2000 by the Gamma Theta Lambda Chapter (Wilmington, DE) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The Foundation is organized as a separate and independent entity and is operated exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of
501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The foundation’s purpose is to support the continuing academic development of high school and college students by providing financial assistance in the form of scholarship awards; to support the leadership development of students through conducting (funding) seminars and conferences; and to support their personal and social development. Since its founding, the GTLEdF has:
Provided financial assistance in scholarships, to graduating high school students, to assist them in continuing their education beyond high school. Sponsored and supported seminars on leadership training and development. Sponsored and participated in mentoring programs targeting young men between the ages of 13 and 18. Supported the personal and social development of high school students through the funding and support of programs, that educated teenagers on the consequences of teenage pregnancies and the failure to complete their high school education. The Foundation is funded through the sponsorship of various fundraising activities, direct contributions from the membership of the Gamma Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Inc., corporations, foundations, legacy societies, and the general public.
