Updated Donation Procedures
To help us handle donations safely and efficiently, we’ve updated our donation policies.
Our Creative Reuse Store at 4410 Wrightsville Ave. can only accept one bag or box per person during regular business hours.
If you have a larger donation, please bring it directly to our Community Art Space & Donation Center during open hours.
Before You Donate
Please help us make the donation process smooth by:
- Sorting your donations before arriving
- Ensuring items are clean and free of smoke, mildew, mothballs, and pet hair
- Removing any personal or identifying information from donated materials
- Not leaving donations outside when we are closed
- Donating only items you are ready to part with permanently, as donated items cannot be returned
We are unable to accept:
- Broken, dirty, or damaged items
- Toxic or hazardous materials
- Most clothing (except denim jeans)
- Appliances (except hair dryers)
- Computers and TVs
- Bedding and linens
- Toiletries and beauty products
- Packing materials such as Styrofoam and packing peanuts
- Auto parts and building materials not suitable for creative reuse
Why These Changes Matter
Every donation that comes through our doors helps keep usable materials out of landfills and puts affordable creative supplies into the hands of artists, teachers, students, makers, nonprofits, and families throughout our community.
The new Donation Center gives us room to process donations more effectively, organize materials, and support the continued growth of Cape Fear ArtXchange. Separating donation processing from the retail store creates a better shopping experience while allowing us to rescue and redistribute even more creative materials.
While the Community Art Space is not fully up and running just yet, we’re excited about what’s ahead. Look for announcements soon about classes, workshops, volunteer opportunities, and open studio hours.
Every donated item has the potential for a second life—and every purchase helps support a more creative and sustainable community.
Thank you for supporting creative reuse and helping us turn yesterday’s surplus into tomorrow’s inspiration. We couldn’t do it without you.
See you at the ArtXchange!
