Last week, Think Bigger Do Good's Joe Pyle joined the Bridging Fields Convening — a gathering of philanthropic leaders exploring how funders can support equitable access to psychedelic-assisted therapy as it moves into clinical practice.

Joe shared how the Thomas Scattergood Behavioral Health Foundation, with its 200-year history in behavioral health philanthropy, has approached this emerging space: treat philanthropic capital as risk capital, invest in board education, and don't let stigma drive decision-making.

Philanthropy has a real opportunity right now to shape who gets access to psychedelic-assisted therapy, how care is delivered, and whether equity is built in from the start.

Thank you to the Psychedelic Mental Health Access Alliance, Psychedelic Science Funders Collaborative and The Riverstyx Foundation for convening this important conversation.

As federal officials reexamine psychiatric medications, part of the conversation is missing.

From SSRIs to psychedelic-assisted therapies, treatment outcomes depend on the system delivering care — the clinician/patient relationship, continuity of care, workforce capacity, and the complementary supports surrounding treatment.

Our newest Think Bigger Do Good paper on psychedelic-assisted therapy makes the case for designing policy with this larger picture in mind. ➡️ https://bit.ly/4dmUtzp

Momentum is building around psychedelic-assisted therapy, but this isn’t just a new treatment. It’s a different model of care, and understanding what it involves is the first step to getting it right.

Psychedelic-assisted therapies offer a promising opportunity to improve outcomes for individuals who too often receive care that falls short.

In an upcoming Think Bigger Do Good paper, Tyler Norris and Rachel Yehuda explore why clinician leadership is foundational to building treatment environments that are safe, effective, and grounded in long-term care.

As behavioral health needs continue to grow, new approaches to care are gaining attention.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy is moving quickly from research into real-world use—but the systems needed to deliver it safely, consistently, and with integrity are still taking shape.
A new Think Bigger Do Good paper explores what it will take to build this model of care thoughtfully and responsibly.

Coming soon.
