Montessori Works is a school development organization founded to increase accessible, authentic, quality Montessori education in Delaware. The board includes Montessori experts, educators, parents, and others who are working to make Montessori programs a more broadly available option in the public arena. Montessori is a proven educational model traditionally available only to families with the mea

ns to pay for private school. Montessori Works is making Montessori an option for more families by:

*Sponsoring seminars and other opportunities for communities to explore how children learn through Montessori

*Creating a Montessori Training program in partnership with a local university, focusing on dual-certification requirements for Montessori teachers and administrators in public schools

*Offering a toolkit to enable school districts to successfully and easily incorporate the Montessori method as a whole-school approach or a school-within-a-school program

*Providing startup Montessori programs with master school planning services, including development of curriculum, policies, and community connections; operations planning and support; and professional development and human resource assistance

*Supporting and assisting existing public-sector Montessori programs

Every child deserves access to an education that helps them thrive.

Montessori Works is a Delaware nonprofit dedicated to making that possible by expanding access to FREE Montessori education throughout the state. Through the creation and support of Montessori charter schools, we're working to ensure that more families have Montessori education as an option for their children—regardless of their financial circumstances.

Montessori education nurtures independence, curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. When access barriers are removed, more children have the opportunity to benefit from this transformative approach to education.

Montessori Works is growing—and we're looking for the right leader to grow with us.

We're currently hiring an Executive Director to help guide the next chapter of our mission to expand access to free Montessori education across Delaware.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a role where you can help shape strategy, build partnerships, support school growth, and increase access to high-quality Montessori education for children and families throughout our state.

Applicant screenings have officially begun, and we're continuing to accept applications. The anticipated start date for this position is July 20.

We’re honored to have received a three-year operating grant from the Longwood Foundation, supporting the next phase of growth for Montessori Works as we expand access to free Montessori education across Delaware.

With this support, we’re hiring our first Executive Director to help lead this work forward.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Montessori is that because it’s over 100 years old… it must be outdated.

But the interesting thing?

Modern research and neuroscience continue to support so many of the things Montessori believed all along.

🧠 movement supports learning
🧠 children learn deeply through hands-on experiences
🧠 mistakes are part of growth
🧠 environment matters
🧠 children thrive when they have autonomy, purpose, and meaningful work

Research is even showing that Montessori students often develop strong executive functioning skills, creativity, independence, and healthier relationships with learning itself.

In many ways, science is catching up to what Montessori figured out more than a century ago. 🤍
