Senior Dog Haven & Hospice, Inc. Rescue & re-homing of local homeless senior dogs and providing hospice homes for the terminally ill. Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is located in Delaware.
(206)

We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families until they find their forever home or in the event of a hospice situation, until they cross the Rainbow Bridge. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love.

Brodie doing his mid week check in! He is still available for adoption. Just look at this little guy with his smile! We know Brodie has some pretty quirky personality traits but hey that’s what we love about him!

He would love to meet his forever friend for couch cuddle sessions. Have any cats or dogs? Well guess what Brodie likes them too. He is also leash trained and house broken. He is on some eye drops and takes two other medications but at around 50$ a month. Also a plus for this guy’s needs? He does not need to have a yard! He really would be the perfect companion!

At 13 years young and 24 pounds, Muffin is a sweet senior girl with a heart full of love and plenty of pep in her step. After being found neglected and tied outside when her owner entered assisted living, Muffin has blossomed into a happy, affectionate companion who loves everyone she meets.

She is housebroken, walks nicely on a leash, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children. In fact, she absolutely adores her foster family’s young grandsons! Muffin loves car rides, walks, sunbathing, snuggling in bed, and making new canine friends. She would be happiest in a home with another friendly dog to play with and people who are home often.

Muffin does have arthritis and needs pain medication to stay comfortable. She cannot do stairs and will need help when necessary, but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying life to the fullest.

Her dream home includes a fenced yard, a dog buddy, and a family who will cherish her as much as she will cherish them.

After everything she’s been through, Muffin has never stopped loving. Now she’s ready for a family of her very own. ❤️

Interested in adopting Muffin? Visit www.seniordoghaven.org to learn more and submit an application. Adopters must be within a reasonable distance of Wilmington, Delaware.

Introducing Roxy!!!

This adorable and sweet girl came to us this weekend. Her owner unfortunately had to move overseas for work so he contacted us to see if we could help. It’s so tough for any owner to make a decision like this but we are thankful he contacted us and we are so happy we could help him and his girl ❤️

Roxy is an 11 year old lady who is about 30ish pounds. She is already proving to be super adorable and was showing off her sunbathing skills in her fosters family backyard and deck this weekend! Stay tuned for more updates as we learn more about this cutie!

Welcome Roxy! ☀️☀️🐾

Sweet Daisy Lynn had her spay and mammary mass removal this week! She is doing great just a bit uncomfortable. Her foster mom said her appetite is great though and she is recovering very well!

Daisy is still available for adoption. We really don’t know how this cutie still hasn’t found her forever home yet. We do keep reminding her that good things come to those who wait. She rolled her eyes at us 🙄😂

Check out Daisy’s bio to learn more! You can hear right to our website and click available dogs!

❤️🐾 Another Foster Fail Success Story! 🐾❤️

Mac may be 13 years old, weigh just 7 pounds, be mostly blind and deaf, have a heart condition, and a little IVDD, but he faces every day with a determination that is nothing short of inspiring. Nothing seems to dampen his spirit! In true Mac fashion, he spends his days wrestling with his 40-pound brother, Tully, proving that courage and heart matter far more than size.

When he’s not busy keeping Tully on his toes, Mac can be found faithfully by his mom’s side. He is her constant companion and devoted shadow, following her from room to room as if making sure she never has to take a step alone. His happiest moments are spent curled up on her lap, drifting off into a cozy nap wrapped in the comfort and love of his family.

Mac is the perfect Chihuahua mix of spice and sweetness. His feisty personality keeps everyone smiling, and his resilience shines through in everything he does. Beneath that sassy exterior is an incredibly loving little dog whose bond with his family is undeniable. They have embraced him exactly as he is, and Mac returns that love tenfold every single day.

We always love when these special pups stay within the Senior Dog Haven & Hospice family. Foster fails like Mac remind us that sometimes the perfect forever home is the one they were already in all along—a place where they are cherished, understood, and loved beyond measure. ❤️🏡🐾

Our Sweet, Sassy, Noisy, and Blind Bundle of Joy: Harper-the-Barker ❤️

Hospice Harper joined the Senior Dog Haven & Hospice family at 13 years old after being surrendered to an overcrowded shelter because she was ill. What seemed like simple lethargy and limited mobility turned out to be a herniated bladder requiring urgent surgery. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Harper received the lifesaving care she needed and began her journey toward recovery.

Because of her medical needs, Harper entered our hospice program. Along with recovering from surgery, she manages chronic eye and skin conditions that require lifelong care. She also came with plenty of personality—and a little sass!

For nearly two years, Harper has thrived in her foster home, sharing her days with other dogs and a cat who is just as bossy as she is. Her care routine includes regular ophthalmology visits, daily medications, weekly medicated baths, and lots of love.

Recently, Harper’s veterinary team discovered a heart condition, elevated liver values, arthritis, and a fatty mass near her hip. While these findings require ongoing monitoring, there is currently no evidence of cancer. Her care team continues to focus on keeping her comfortable, happy, and feeling her best.

Harper’s journey has not been easy, but her spirit remains unbroken. She is a beautiful reminder of the resilience of senior dogs and the difference that love, compassion, and dedicated care can make.

Every bark, every nuzzle, and every tail wag is a gift. Harper, we are so grateful for you. ❤️🐾

✅ Go for a walk and say hi to her boyfriend, Jax

✅ Celebrate Mom being home from work with Friday zoomies

✅ Carefully select and eat only the chicken meatballs from the food bowl

✅ Post-dinner nap

Judging by this photo, we’d say Chloe absolutely crushed her to-do list for the day. 😂

We love getting updates like these and seeing our alumni living their best lives. Keep enjoying the good life, sweet Chloe! ❤️
