Our Sweet, Sassy, Noisy, and Blind Bundle of Joy: Harper-the-Barker ❤️
Hospice Harper joined the Senior Dog Haven & Hospice family at 13 years old after being surrendered to an overcrowded shelter because she was ill. What seemed like simple lethargy and limited mobility turned out to be a herniated bladder requiring urgent surgery. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Harper received the lifesaving care she needed and began her journey toward recovery.
Because of her medical needs, Harper entered our hospice program. Along with recovering from surgery, she manages chronic eye and skin conditions that require lifelong care. She also came with plenty of personality—and a little sass!
For nearly two years, Harper has thrived in her foster home, sharing her days with other dogs and a cat who is just as bossy as she is. Her care routine includes regular ophthalmology visits, daily medications, weekly medicated baths, and lots of love.
Recently, Harper’s veterinary team discovered a heart condition, elevated liver values, arthritis, and a fatty mass near her hip. While these findings require ongoing monitoring, there is currently no evidence of cancer. Her care team continues to focus on keeping her comfortable, happy, and feeling her best.
Harper’s journey has not been easy, but her spirit remains unbroken. She is a beautiful reminder of the resilience of senior dogs and the difference that love, compassion, and dedicated care can make.
Every bark, every nuzzle, and every tail wag is a gift. Harper, we are so grateful for you. ❤️🐾
