Our Story

Wilmington In Transition (WIT) is a local (New Castle County, DE) initiative of the international Transition Town movement. The Transition Town movement is a knowledge sharing network of thousands of local, grass roots, direct action, community-resilience-building groups around the globe. This ‘people-powered experiment in social change’ embraces Permaculture as its model (and uses Sociocracy as a process) to re-imagine and reinvent a more vibrant, peaceful, resilient, and thriving human society free from the hazards of living in a fossil fuel dependent economy. The basic concepts of these initiatives are described in the book by founder Rob Hopkins, The Transition Handbook: From Oil Dependency to Local Resilience.

Everyone is invited to this party! We have work to do, together (and, yes - it can be FUN!). *** Let’s co-create the more beautiful world we know is possible ***
