Clinton Community Fellows

Clinton Community Fellows Cultivating the future leaders of Clinton County. A project of Energize Clinton County & the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission.

The Clinton Community Fellows Program is a ten-week fellowship program running from June 14 to August 16 that provides young leaders from Clinton County, Ohio the opportunity to develop valuable skills and experience in a rural, small-city environment. The program recruits and matches young, locally-connected talent with the needs of local businesses with interest in implementing innovative busine

ss development strategies. Under the supervision and mentorship of the program's founding partners—the Clinton County Regional Planning Commission, and Energize Clinton County—the Fellows work on a project basis with business partners to provide additional business development capacity to assist local businesses in achieving their strategic objectives. In addition to the hands-on business development experience, Fellows take part in networking, volunteer projects, and other community-oriented activities to help them make connections and identify opportunities for long-term employment in the community.

This is Ollie Basta, a senior at Wilmington College double majoring in History and Theatre. Ollie is an active member of the campus community—you might spot Ollie leading campus tours for prospective students, performing on stage, helping manage materials at the Quaker Heritage Center, or racing between meetings across campus.

This summer, as part of the Clinton Community Fellows Program, Ollie interned with both the Clinton County History Center and Main Street Wilmington. This work supported local history and downtown revitalization efforts, giving Ollie valuable experience that connects directly to their passions. Ollie is looking forward to starting their final year at Wilmington College and continuing to make an impact both on and off campus!

This is Vanessa Calderone. She is a student at Xavier University and spent her summer working with the Clinton County Port Authority as part of the Clinton Community Fellows Program. Over the course of 10 weeks, Vanessa took on a wide range of creative projects that supported communication, branding, and public engagement efforts.

Her work included designing a silhouette of Clinton County to be used across various materials, developing branded PowerPoint and booklet templates, and creating a staff spotlight series that featured interviews, photos, and a “Speed Tour” video introducing the Port Authority team. She also created a JobsOhio handout and a LinkedIn post toolkit to help with future outreach. One of her most impactful contributions was organizing a countywide photo library—making it easier for partners to find, use, and share high-quality images.
