This month's Produce Pop-Up is shaping up to be a great one! 🫐 While our MoM and Mobile MoM allow families to shop for a wide variety of foods each month, our Produce Pop-Ups provide an additional opportunity to access staples like fruit, veggies, milk, and eggs.

This month, that includes delicious North Carolina blueberries, thanks to the generosity of Lewis Farms. Over 400 pints of fresh local blueberries will be disributed to local families this week: how berry cool!

We're also excited to welcome our partners at the American Red Cross North Carolina, who are on-site sharing information about their programs and services, as well as some fun activities for kids.

Thank you to our community partners who help us connect local families with resources, support, and a little extra joy. 🫐

Please help us celebrate our Volunteer of the Month, Remi!

As cool as a cucumber, as steady as a rock, Remi fills all the cliches for what it means to be a steady, and calming presence. She’s been volunteering with NourishNC for over five years. Every Thursday, she shows up to deliver Backpack bags to schools. She’s also a constant presence in both our Market on Market (MoM) and the Mobile MoM.

No matter how busy the market gets, she exhibits a Zen-like calm, helping shoppers and fellow volunteers feel at ease. Remi is a great example of how community support makes it possible for us to serve the more than 3,100 food insecure children enrolled in our programs.

We are so grateful for the incredible support from the Salty’s team and everyone who donated to help fight childhood hunger in our community. Because of your generosity, we collected an amazing amount of food and donations that will help nourish local children and families this summer. Check out all of these incredible donations!

Our final Backpack Program distribution of the school year wrapped up this week, delivering 1500+ weekend bags full of nutritious food to elementary school students enrolled in New Hanover County Schools.

Because of this incredible community, NourishNC distributed more than 44,000 backpacks during the 2025–2026 school year, providing over 352,000 meals to local children facing food insecurity. That’s 8,000 more backpacks than last year!

Please join us in giving our Thursday morning volunteer crew some major love! 👏To our volunteers, donors, school partners, drivers, and supporters: thank you. Every backpack packed, every bag delivered, and every dollar donated helped a child focus on being a kid.

As summer begins, the need continues - and so does our work.
