Bird-Friendly Habitat Program Dr. Doug Tallamy comes to Wilmington Oct 17, 7:30 PM at the UNCW Lumina Theater. No charge for admission.

"It is documented that the migratory songbirds have declined about 1% per year over the last 50 years. The principal reason is the loss of their natural habitat due to people moving in and building new housing and the infrastructure to support an increase in population. This habitat loss was principally Native trees and shrubbery."

Cape Fear Audubon in conjunction with Wild Bird & Garden has a Bird-Friendly habitat award program. Do a little something to make your yard (habitat) more friendly and receive a sign. Remove invasives and plant natives, or remove non-natives and plant natives, or remove some lawn and plant natives.

National Audubon has a Climate Watch program to survey 3 species of birds for one day during the latter part of January 2017 in the Pender, New Hanover and Brunswick counties.
