Do you know someone who should be considered for induction into the Delaware Sports Museum & Hall of Fame? Here’s your opportunity to make the case!

Members of the public are invited to give a five-minute presentation to the Board of Governors supporting a potential inductee.

Date: Sunday, November 15, 2026
Time: 2pm
Location: Fusco Student Life Center at Ursuline Academy, Wilmington, DE

We strongly encourage everyone to attend in person. However, a Zoom option will be available for those who are unable to attend.

Space is limited, so please contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible to reserve your presentation time. We will email detailed instructions upon registration. Please do not call to reserve a spot.

For generations of Wilmington families, Al’s Sporting Goods has been more than a sporting goods store - it’s been a beloved part of the community and their memories.

This year, as DSMHOF celebrates 50 years of preserving and celebrating Delaware’s sports history, we’re proud to recognize Bob Hart, who has spent the last 50 years running Al’s Sporting Goods.

Al’s has been a Wilmington institution for 91 years, helping generations of athletes find the shoes, equipment, and gear they needed to play the sports they loved. For many, a trip to Al’s was part of growing up.

Our Board President, Mark White, recently stopped in to see Bob and share his appreciation. Mark remembers shopping at Al’s as a young boy, when a pair of canvas Chuck Taylor sneakers cost $16.99! Those kinds of memories are what make places like Al’s so special and remind us that sports are about so much more than the games themselves. They connect us, create memories, and bring generations together.

As Al’s prepares to close its doors at the end of December, we want to thank Bob for 50 years of dedication to the store, our community, and Delaware sports.

It’s fitting that in our 50th anniversary year, we get to celebrate someone who has dedicated the same five decades to keeping sports a part of everyday life in Wilmington.

Thank you, Bob, and congratulations on an incredible 50-year run!

We’re open October 3 & 17, from 10am-1pm, and admission is FREE!

⭐ Featured 2026 Inductee: Jamie Duncan 🏈
From Christiana High School to Vanderbilt and then the NFL, Jamie Duncan made his mark as an All-American linebacker. A third-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1998, he went on to play seven seasons in the NFL with the Bucs, St. Louis Rams, and Atlanta Falcons, appearing in 96 games and recording 307 tackles.

Reminder: First State Fun Day is THIS Saturday!

Visit the Delaware Sports Museum & Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 26, from 10am-2pm, and explore our exhibits on a self-guided tour. We’ll also be showing our introductory movie throughout open hours, offering a great introduction to Delaware’s sports history.

We look forward to welcoming you to DSMHOF!

Note: Normal museum hours are 10am-1pm on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month between September and March. The hours change when the Blue Rocks season begins.

Join us for our first Coffee Chat, an informal gathering for sports fans to talk games, scores, news, and all things sports. With football season underway, there's plenty to discuss!

Light refreshments will be provided. Space is limited to only 10 people, so please email [email protected] to let us know you’ll be attending.

Love sports? Join us for a new monthly gathering at the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame where sports fans can connect, chat about the latest games, scores, and sports news - and enjoy some light refreshments!

With the NFL season getting underway, football will definitely be part of the conversation, along with whatever is happening across the sports world.

📍 Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame - 801 Shipyard Drive (1st base side of Frawley Stadium)

We're testing the 10am time for our first gathering and will ask attendees what works best going forward.
