Throughout the journey of motherhood there will be many seasons. (As any mother will tell you, as soon as you think you’ve got the hang of it, something comes along and changes things up. 😉)

But the one constant which remains throughout them all is a mother’s love, strength and determination, something we’ve been blessed to witness in the women we work with every day.

Wherever season of motherhood you find yourself in this year, we see you. Nobody said it would be easy, just that it would be worth it.

Had a great time yesterday at the Wilmington Flower Market at Rockford Park! 🌸🎡🍩

Did you know: The Wilmington Flower Market is more than just an annual Delaware tradition every Mother’s Day Weekend, it’s an all volunteer fundraising event that has been happening for more than 100 years!

Proceeds from the market (and other WFM led events throughout the year) support a wide range of children’s charities throughout the state.

We enjoyed fresh hot mini donuts from Donutnv Delaware and live music from Love Seed Mama Jump between perusing the vendors and rides.

Great to see so many familiar faces at this year’s event!

Delaware Burger Battle Deals a New Hand for 2026 - New Leadership Goes All-In for 13th Annual Showdown!

The 13th Delaware Burger Battle will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Noon. The location remains Rockford Park, 2000 Lookout Drive, Wilmington, Del. Tickets will go on sale June 1 at 6 p.m. EST.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the all-volunteer-run event are distributed to Delaware charities. The Kenny Family Foundation is the 501(c)(3) host of the event, and intends to regrant all proceeds to the Food Bank of Delaware and the Delaware Restaurant Foundation, to address food insecurity and career development. More than $166,000 has been raised for charity through Delaware Food Battles.

Founder JulieAnne Cross announced in January an intention to step back from leading the Battle. Following extensive stakeholder conversations, she tapped Rachel Painter to take the lead. Painter was a big part of the 2025 Battle in her role as Lead of Charitable Giving at Kenny Family Foundation.

Painter says, “Although the Kenny Family Foundation has been involved with the Battle for many years, I’m thrilled to be able to take a personal role in this event, which has done so much good for Delawareans over the years. ”

Calling itself a “charity festival,” the Delaware Burger Battle is known to induce meat sweats, as guests sample a dozen burgers presented by Delaware-area chefs. Guests then vote, and DElebrity judges concurrently assign scores to each burger, resulting in trophies awarded in two categories: Critic’s Choice and People’s Choice. The winning burgers in 2025 were:

🍔 Leo's Smash Burgers & Dogs for Critics’ Choice (Dad’s Burger - beef smash patty, smoked gouda, grilled onions, bread and butter pickles, millionaire bacon, chipotle ketchup on toasted Martins potato roll)

🍔 The Greenhouse Gastropub for Peoples’ Choice (Tony Fontina - twin brisket, short rib, and ground chuck patties, smoked tomato aïoli, fontina cheese, caramelized onion-bacon jam)

Each year, the event fills over 70 volunteer shifts with adults and teens alike. Sponsors for 2025 were Kenny Family ShopRites, Standard Distributing, American Design & Build, Renewal by Andersen and DD Project Wines.

Painter hopes the winners and the other 2025 competitors – Chelsea Tavern, Limestone BBQ, Redfire Grill + Steakhouse, Ted's Montana Grill, Uncle John's BBQ Stand, and first-timer Charcoal Pit – will return to battle again in 2026.
