The Wilmington Rotary Club sponsored an educational field trip for students from Williston Middle School to UNCW's MarineQuest facility. During this hands-on experience, students collected plankton samples and used microscopes to examine marine life up close. They also participated in a squid dissection and learned about species native to the Cape Fear region.
Rotarian chaperones Steve Yates, Paul Lawler, and David Grandey accompanied the students, helping to support an engaging and memorable day of learning.

We delivered carloads of supplies, received a warm welcome, were taken on a tour of the cottages by the residents, played games and planted flowers. It was a wonderful day of service.

Rotarians volunteered at Operation Pretty Things packing 50 gift boxes that will be distributed as part of their annual Mother's Day event. This volunteer project was part of the requirements for a Rotary District Grant.

Operation Pretty Things supports victims of domestic violence through programs such as their Mother's Day and Christmas gift distributions, Locker Box Initiative to educate middle schoolers on the red flags of unhealthy relationships, and their Care 4 Program that provides hair, makeup, and clothing services to women who are appearing in court to testify against their perpetrators.

In addition to packing boxes, Rotarians wrote "love notes" or notes of hope that are included with each gift. These individualized notes offer support, hope, and a reminder to women living in shelters that they are not alone on this journey.
