Sondae has been taking over the streaming apps, and we were so grateful to have him at Soul of the City for an unforgettable DJ set. He’s blowing up right now, and we’re honored that he graced our stage with his talent! ✨

Make Your Mark
An Exhibition by Nathan L. Nicholson

Friday, October 2, 5pm-7pm

“My work moves between digital art, chalk, ink, Conté crayon, photography, and paint—composite pieces that resist a single category. My art seeks to lift the misunderstood and underrepresented. I often render skin in a deep, sublime black or a uniform grayscale, a nod to the uniqueness of Black people sometimes lost in assumed stereotypes. Even without vibrant color, the beauty and individuality of each subject shine through.
Just as I bring together disparate materials, my deepest purpose is to bring people together. This exhibition invites you to collaborate directly: using paper, markers, charcoal, and Conté crayons provided in the space, make an abstract mark of your own. Your mark—initialed or anonymous—will be rearranged into a new composition unique to this installation, growing as the exhibition travels.

This is my motto and my call to action: Make your mark. It’s an invitation to bring your God-given individuality into the world, celebrating the sacred purpose that is uniquely yours. The freedom to be you.”
— Nathan L. Nicholson
