Respect OST Community! Afterschool programs play a vital role in youth development by sparking curiosity, strengthening communication and critical thinking skills, and giving families peace of mind that their children are in safe, supportive environments. Before, during, and after the pandemic, 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) have remained a cornerstone for helping students succeed academically and for fostering social and emotional growth.

The Delaware Department of Education has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for organizations interested in administering 21st CCLC programs under the Federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act. This is an important opportunity to expand high-quality afterschool programming across the state.

Interested applicants are encouraged to review the full RFP details and bid solicitation materials. A voluntary Virtual Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Attendance is optional but strongly encouraged for those considering applying.

The Delaware Afterschool Network (DEAN) wants to take a moment to acknowledge Mental Health Awareness Month.

In the fast-paced world of education and advocacy, we often focus on the outcomes- the grades, policies, grants and the growth. But at the heart of every program are the people: the dedicated educators, out of school time facilitators, the students and supportive families who make out network move.

This month, we encourage you to lead with grace-both for others and for yourself. Remember that wellness is the foundation of all our success.

DEAN stands with you in promoting environments where mental health is prioritized and every member of our community feels seen and supported. Let's make this May a month of intentional reset and collective care.
