“We’re so blessed to have this beautiful house up on Whidbey Island, where you can go walk when you’re on break, sit with your thoughts, and really appreciate life in a way that’s hard to do in other places.”
— Leonel “Leo” Vella, Student at Thomas Aquinas College

Our sincere thanks to the Griswold-Bacigalupi family, whose hospitality gave our students a remarkable place this summer to slow down, think deeply, and enjoy the kind of intellectual fellowship at the heart of an ISI seminar.

“At my own college, we don’t have the chance to go in-depth, seminar-style, on these venerable classical works in the way that we’re doing here.”
— Bar Rozenhaimer, Whitworth University

At ISI’s Washington State Whidbey Island retreat, “Montesquieu, Rousseau, and the Crisis of Modern Politics,” students spent the weekend immersed in great texts, wrestling with enduring questions of political life, and continuing the conversation over meals and ferry rides.
