Delaware & Cantabile Women's Choirs

Delaware & Cantabile Women's Choirs For women who have some choral experience and want to sing in a healthy and supportive atmosphere. Under the direction of Joanne J.

The Delaware Women’s Chorus at the Wilmington Branch of the Music
School of Delaware, and Cantabile Women’s Chorus at the Milford
Branch were conceived as ensembles for women over the age of 18 who
had some choral singing experience and wanted to revisit those skills in
a healthy and supportive atmosphere. Ward, the ensembles have tripled in size
and consistently perform throughout Delaware, Penns

ylvania and New
Jersey. Members of the choirs hail from four states; range in age from 20
to 80 plus; and represent a wide variety of life styles and ability levels. All singers, however, regardless of age or ability, come together once a
week for two hours with the sincere desire to create beautiful music in
an artistic, healthful and supportive environment. Our mission is to provide members with the opportunity to enhance
their musical knowledge and skills; to share with our audience, through
the wide spectrum of music written specifically for women’s voices, the
vast range of human emotion and experience; and to promote singing as
a lifelong endeavor. DWC and CWC are always eager to welcome new
singers with some choral experience into the ensembles. To arrange an audition for DWC, please call the Wilmington Branch at 302-762-1132. To arrange an audition for CWC, please call the Milford Branch at
302-422-2043.

Day 7 of the trip is here!

Day 7: Today we went on an excursion to find Nessie, The Loch Ness Monster (spoiler alert: I found her)! But not before we stopped to see some real highland coos!! It was a little chilly on the boat cruise but it was super fun either way! Then it was time for a little stop in Fort Augustus. Everyone split up to explore. I decided to have some afternoon tea for one and then a nice relaxing lunch on the creek. It was nice until the kitchen caught on fire! After a quick evacuation it was back to my lunch. Then, it was onwards to Fort William for the night. We had a three course dinner complete with bagpipe entertainment. It was a pleasant evening before Day 8 with our last performance. We only have a few more days left. Stay tuned for the rest of our trip.

Here we are at Day 6 in the Scottish Highlands!

Day 6: We had breakfast at the hotel and then it was off to downtown Inverness! We had all day to explore and shop. I found many cute little shops in town. Then, it was off to Cawdor Castle! This castle was absolutely gorgeous with beautiful gardens and so many fun rooms. It’s most famous for being the 11th century home of Shakespeare’s MacBeth and the scene of his murder of King Duncan, but it is historically unproven that either actually came here. Finally, it was off to Inverness Cathedral for our evening performance! After the performance, a few of us received an amazing opportunity to perform spontaneously at a local pub. It was an incredible experience! After that, it was time to head back to the hotel! Tune in for Day 7!

Day 4 and 5 of the Scotland trip is in this post!

Day 4: We visited Stirling Castle in the Scottish Highlands on this day! It was a beautiful weather day and the Castle was incredible to tour! In the early afternoon we held a recital in the Chapel Royal of Stirling Castle where Mary, Queen of Scots, was crowned. The acoustics were fantastic! On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at The Kelpies in The Helix. These are 98 feet high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies (shape shifting water spirits). We had a free night and packed our bags for our next stop for Day 5.

Day 5: This was a travel day! We ate breakfast together, packed up the coach and headed up to the Scottish Highlands! We stopped a couple of places on the way. We saw the three bridges and stopped for lunch in Pitlochry, a cute little town. We finally made it to Inverness and visited the Culloden Battlefield. After checking into the hotel, it was time for dinner and then off to bed until the next day!

Day 3 of our Scotland trip was a busy one! We started our morning with breakfast together and then set off for a tour of Edinburgh Castle! This was a special visit because it was King Charles’ official birthday! There was lots of activity happening on the grounds! We saw the beautiful architecture, the Scottish Crown Jewels (sadly no pictures were allowed), and lots of the King’s Royal Guard! We enjoyed a nice bit of traditional afternoon tea and then attended the special 21 Gun Salute in celebration of the King’s birthday. And that was just in the morning!

That afternoon we had an amazing performance at St. Giles Cathedral as part of the American Celebration of Music in Scotland. It was a beautiful space with awesome acoustics!

Then, we had the entire rest of the evening to ourselves. Some went to a Scottish line dancing event, some continued to rest, others went Shopping and what did I do? Pub crawling of course! Scotland is one of the best countries to pub crawl in as you meet the locals and learn what’s good and where the best places to visit are! It was a very fun night indeed!

Tune in for more on Day 4 of our trip to Stirling and our next performance!
