AN EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!

April Barrett has joined Public Allies Delaware as our newest Program Manager, bringing six and a half years of experience on the other side of the table as a Partner Organization Supervisor during her time as Operations Manager at Cornerstone West CDC / West Side Grows in Wilmington, Delaware. Her background spans operations, nonprofit management, and small business entrepreneurship, giving her a grounded, practical perspective on the work of building strong partnerships and supporting AmeriCorps Members through their service.

Outside of work, April is a lifelong learner at heart. She spends her free time tending to her garden (with a soft spot for native and pollinator-friendly gardening), cooking up something new in the kitchen, diving into a good game, or planning her next trip. She's excited to bring her curiosity, compassion, and hands-on experience to Public Allies.

Public Allies Delaware Alumni are the next generation of leadership!

Today we are celebrating Rachel's first work anniversary with Friendship House!

Rachel’s journey began in 2024 through Public Allies Delaware, with Friendship House as her partner organization. Since then, she has brought compassion, care, and purpose to her work supporting individuals through major life transitions.

Her time volunteering with Code Purple deepened her commitment to treating every person with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Now stepping into her new role as Clothing Bank Manager, Rachel continues to lead with heart and build meaningful relationships across our community.

Rachel, we are so grateful to have you on the Friendship House team. Please join us in celebrating her!

Public Allies Delaware Alumni are the next generation of leadership!

Today we’re celebrating Jayla’s 1st anniversary as a full-time Friendship House employee!

Jayla, from New Castle, Delaware, first joined FH as a Public Ally before stepping into her role as Volunteer Coordinator. Over the past year, she has helped connect volunteers with meaningful ways to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Her favorite part of the job is meeting the volunteers who come to support our organization. She also finds hope in seeing more people understand that homelessness is not a choice, but often the result of unexpected circumstances.

Thank you, Jayla, for the care, connection, and dedication you bring to Friendship House. Help us celebrate her in the comments!
