Good morning RescueConnect community. Checking in this morning to give you an update on our disabled kitten Rex. Rex is making good progress in his foster home. He is now able to sit up and eat instead of eating from his side, which is huge for this 4 1/2 month old boy.
Drumroll please: we have our appointment at NCSU neurology!! we’ve all been waiting for that. We are going to be so excited to learn what the neurologist has to say about Rex‘s progress and his future.
When you watch his videos and they break your heart, please remember that this is what Rex knows, he doesn’t know or think he’s any different. He interacts with his clowder on his own terms and they interact right back.
To give you an idea of how he is growing with his disability he got a new wheelchair yesterday! Remember his first one was a Lego wheelchair. That Lego wheelchair helped him gain strength and increased his use of his back legs, allowing him to be more mobile. But just as a kitten should, he is growing every day, and he has outgrown it! Please continue to give Rex good thoughts and good vibes ,comment on his posts and let’s keep him in the news!
Cats with disabilities can live full lives. Our friends at Tabbys’s place in Ringoes New Jersey, have helped Rex by consulting virtually on providing us with advice on how to monitor his progress and giving us ideas how to allow him to grow into his disability.
So many people have reached out and touched Rex that it’s hard to remember them all!
His new wheelchair was donated via a fella named Shawn here in Wilmington and it was made from a 3-D printer. Rex has an amazing village, and we’re glad you’re here!
Thanks for keeping up with us. We’ll write more soon.
