Just concluded the meeting of the AHEPA Cyprus Hellenic Affairs Committee. Some takeaways. We need to be more interactive and "demanding" of our congressional delegation. The AHEPA Consititution has a position of VP for Hellenism, which should be our local chapter member who is well educated in this area. For too long, the late Peter Yiannos and Dean Lomis carried the standard for us. We need members with the contacts to step up. Also, it was brought up that we should emphasize the Three Pillars of Stability in the Easter Mediterranean: Greece, Cyprus, and Israel. Mentioning the three as a unit has a lot more clout with our elected officials.
