In a push to combat area crime, Wilmington Central Rotary plans to tap into one of the community’s most prominent strengths – its abundance of amateur talent. Wilmington’s Got Talent – a hometown variety show competition - promises to be fun and entertaining. at Thalian Hall, will shine the spotlight on area singer

s, dancers, musicians, jugglers and all acts in between. All proceeds will go toward purchasing a drug dog for the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department canine unit.

“There are so many wonderfully-skilled people and undiscovered entertainers in this city,” said Jeannette Woodruff, Rotary Central Event Chair. “This section of southeastern North Carolina in particular really sparkles with gifted individuals from across the talent spectrum. We’re very lucky to harness all of their good to overcome some of the negative.”

Friday night we held our 8th Annual Wilmington's Got Talent Show in front of approximately 300 people. The proceeds (approximately $11,000) will go to purchase a two stall horse trailer for the Wilmington Police Mounted Patrol.

We had 14 contestants and three categories (Age 6-15, Age 15+ and Professional). Age 6-15 Winner was Sylvie Lippard. Age 16 + was Joshua Ward. Professional Winner was LaRaisha Dionne. The People's Choice Award went to Anne McNamara & Ava Britt. Thanks to all of our sponsors and incredibly talented contestants for making this Show so successful. Pictures coming soon!
