The Delaware region was established in 2009 as part of Teach for America's Mid-Atlantic region.

A network of change makers working for educational equity in the first state | One day, all children in Delaware will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. In 2011 we became an independent region, serving greater Wilmington. As of 2013 we've spread to all three counties in Delaware, serving low income students in rural and urban communities.

In Celebration of Women’s History Month our Executive Director Tamara Smith spoke on a panel (How Did We Get Here? Women Executives in the Workplace). Tamara spoke about navigating her career as a Black woman from schools to leading at TFA. She also Highlighted challenges and offered guidance on the importance of mentorship and being a life-long learner. She really emphasized to students that they belong in spaces.

We have exciting news!

We are proud to announce a new regional partnership with Delaware State University!

The DSU partnership with Teach For America-Delaware is consistent with the Education Department’s priority of producing more teachers of color for school systems, especially in the First State. This marks TFA’s first certification partnership with a Historically Black College and University (HBCU).

Interested in learning more about Teach For America? Ignite your spark by joining us for an
upcoming informational session where you’ll discover who we are, what we do, and how our programs
work. The first 30 minutes will address the most common questions we receive:

1. What is Teach For America?
2. What and where will I teach?
3. What will my salary and finances look like?
4. How does teacher certification work?
5. How will I be trained and supported?

We will end with 30 additional minutes of Q&A where you’ll have a choice: stay in the main room for
general Q&A or join one of our regional breakout spaces where representatives from all 40+ TFA regions
will share more about the logistics of their region and answer any specific questions. We will also be
sending follow-up resources ahead of our February 5th application deadline. We hope to see you there!
