Memorial Day 2025 – Honoring the Heroes of the Korean War: 75 Years of Remembrance
This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the Korean War — a conflict that began in 1950 and forever shaped the course of history. On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Korean War — a conflict often called "The Forgotten War," but one that must never be forgotten.
75 years ago, thousands of American service members answered the call to defend freedom on the Korean Peninsula. They fought alongside South Korean and United Nations forces through bitter cold, rugged terrain, and overwhelming odds — not for territory, but for liberty, justice, and the future of a free people.
Their sacrifice was not in vain.
Because of their courage and unwavering commitment, South Korea stands today as a beacon of democracy, prosperity, and peace. The freedoms that millions enjoy are a direct result of the valor and devotion of those who never came home.
From all of us at the Delaware Korean Association, we pay special tribute to our beloved Korean War veterans. Your selfless service and sacrifice changed the course of history and gave hope to generations. Your legacy lives on in every grateful Korean heart and every American who honors your memory.
We invite you to join us this Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025 at the Bellevue Park (800 Carr Rd, Wilmington, DE 19809) for Memorial Day Picnic with free Korean food and Korean music, as we honor these courageous veterans and reflect on the price of freedom. Together, let us ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.
