Today, members of the DRBA PD and celebrated a very special 3rd birthday for Olivia. Olivia is the daughter of Sgt. Johnston and she is currently battling her second fight against leukemia. Due to her treatment regimen, we were very limited with in person contact. We sang happy birthday on speaker phone and made sure she got some wonderful presents. Happy Birthday Olivia!! We wish you a speedy recovery and want you to know we are all fighting with you.

The Department is deeply saddened to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our ranks, Corporal Timothy J. O’Connor Jr. He served as a Patrol Unit Supervisor at PSP Embreeville and was killed in the line of duty on March 8. Read more at bit.ly/PSP-TJO26.

It is with deep sadness and a sense of personal loss that we share news of the passing of our friend and brother, Detective Christopher N. Skrobot.

Chris began his career with the New Castle County Police in 2016 and earned a reputation as a dedicated Officer who led by example with a strong commitment to the community.

In April 2024, Chris was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a form of blood cancer. Despite this daunting challenge, he and his incredible wife Caitlyn spread a message of strength and hope in their efforts to bring attention to the critical need for blood and blood platlet donation. Because of their determination, hundreds of life saving donations were made in honor of the Skrobot family.

Surrounded by those he loved, Chris fought to the end and leaves behind an example of courage, grace and dignity. We send our heartfelt condolences, respect and gratitude to the Skrobot family for sharing their story with us and for teaching us that love and family last forever. In Valor There IS Hope. Until we meet again.
