Meet Will, one of our newest volunteers at Legacy Architectural Salvage! 🛠️

As you can see, Will has been hard at work bringing a newly-arrived mantel back to life, carefully stripping away years of layered paint. Projects like this come into the warehouse all the time, and we couldn't manage them without the incredible dedication of our volunteer team. Thank you, Will!

Have you ever seen a “buckboard”?

Before paved roads and shock absorbers, early 19th-century farm wagons relied on a simple wooden board fixed at the front with springs. As horses pulled the carriage, the springs and board would act as a shock absorber.

This c. 1830 bench seat came from a small farm near Sledge Forest. What makes this piece extra special is that it still retains its original leaf springs underneath—19th-century suspension technology that kept the farmer from feeling every single bump in the road.

Whether repurposed as a rustic porch bench, entryway seating, or an unforgettable focal piece, it’s a tangible piece of local history waiting for its next chapter.
