Good morning friends,
I am sitting in a hotel coffee shop in Las Vega, Nevada. Yes, that's correct, "Sin City." I am reading, writing, and listening to some worship music. Just a few feet away, I can see through the casino with all the noise and chimes going off. Across the lobby is a life size statue of "The King." No, not Jesus. Just beyond that there is an 8 foot tall neon sign that says, ELVIS.
There are thousands of people from all over the world here and hundreds passing by me while I sit and watch their coming and going. Their business was like a whirlwind around me and then a quiet came over me, a deep and beautiful awareness from within me that seemed to fill everything. The Spirit of the Lord is here. In my ears was playing,
"As the Spirit was moving over the waters - Spirit come move over us - Come move on us."
In Psalm 139:7 the psalmist David asks two questions :
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from your presence?
The psalmist tells us that God transcends time and space. He is before, He is present and He will always be. But He is also personal. He knows us. He knows our thoughts before we express them. He knows the deep parts of our hearts and motives. He is there as we awake and with us when we lay down at night. His light shines even in darkness. There is no place we can go that His presence doesn't occupy. We cannot out run Him. He is there. He is present.
So often we relate to God as if we must entice Him, convince Him or even beg Him to come and be present with us. I had a friend once say, "Any child that has to beg for his father's affection is in a dysfunctional relationship." We do not have to beg God for His presence and love. He is always presented and always loving.
Our problem is our awareness. I wonder as I watch these hundreds of people rushing by me, "Are you aware He is here? Can you feel Him in this place?
There is no place where we can go from His presence - Not even "Sin City."
Where ever you are today, Jesus is with you. If you feel lost, if you are waiting or even running, He is with you and He loves you.
Blessing folks.
