The Cape Fear Humanists had the MOST fascinating talk today on beekeeping by certified NC beekeeper Sandie Celcelski. A former science educator for Ashley High School, and a member of the New Hanover County Beekeeper’s Association, she is in charge of the Bee School program where one can learn all about how to keep bees! And, did you know there is a state law that gives permission for anyone to have some hives in their yard, and no one can stop you. Not even HOA’s. She sells fresh honey and lots of other products she makes herself tending to her dozen hives, and harvested 72 pounds of honey by herself this year alone!

I am so proud of our AHA chapter, the Cape Fear Humanists! 😁Last night we packed and delivered over 500 snack packs to NC Nourish serving children! Ben’s AI Talk January 25 to Cape Fear Humanists was terrific!
Ben mentioned us in his WHQR newsletter dated Sunday January 26 “Snowday Edition.” Here’s what he said:
“AI don’t know if this is a good idea… : I had another opportunity to speak with members of the Cape Fear Humanists and Freethinkers this weekend. I shared some of my experiences, good and bad, working with AI in journalism (and life). As I’ve written in this newsletter, I think AI provides some powerful tools but also some perverse incentives, and shouldn’t be left unsupervised. So, we got into all that.

As in the past, they were a great group, who showed up on a Saturday morning with probing questions and thoughtful insights. My thanks to Page Rutledge for having me back!”
