We’re grateful to partner with St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church as they learn how to host mobile showers on their church property. Pictured above are members of their team participating in training as they take the first steps toward serving their neighbors with dignity and care.

Celebrating 10 YEARS of the Pennington Family!
At Vision Day we honored Kyle, Mrs. B, Isaiah, Oren, Uriah, and Eden for their faithful presence and missional pastoral care in the neighborhood. We love how God continues to move through this family every day. They truly embody Jesus' invitation to Love thy Neighbor the way that Jesus does. Got a favorite memory with these folks? Drop it in the comments!

🏠WHAT IS PUSHING PEOPLE OUT OF THEIR HOMES ON THE SOUTHSIDE?🏠
All kinds of pressures! At Vision Day, we reported on our yearlong community study, we heard neighbors say things like...
"I own my home but the tax and insurance costs have gone up so. much I may have to sell. My fixed income won't cover it."
"My landlord replaced the carpet and then doubled our rent."
"My name is not on my title and I don't know what to do."
"The landlord said the repairs would start this year, but they say that every year. Now they say I have to move across town for the renovation but my whole support network is here and I don't have transportation"
How do neighbors Reclaim HOME when its such a complex issue?
🏠Last year we did 1 home, starting with ensuring some of our neighborhood ministry staff - Al and Sam - had an affordable place to live.
🏘Next year let's invest in 1 street! Starting with neighborhood homeowners, mostly our community elders, let's work together to Reclaim HOME.
💪🏿We have a few Southside residents ready to lead the charge.
🛠 We've recruited partner organizations like legal pros, home repair organizations, and advocates who can help address complex issues.

🏘how can YOU help us Reclaim HOME? Got skills? Fund to help with costs? Time?
Let's and together!

Missed Vision Day? Here's the Reclaim HOPE, Reclaim HOME Recap:
🌳Reclaim HOPE: We celebrated our first year of mentoring Southside youth, right in their own neighborhood. Next year we continue high school apprenticeships and launch weekly youth group; a home base for Southside kids to experience spiritual formation, mentorship and safety.
🌳Reclaim HOME: Last year we bought 1 house to preserve for affordable housing. Next year lets collaborate to Reclaim 1 Street - helping legacy homeowners and neighborhood seniors combat threats to their homes such as addressing home repair challenges and recruiting legal assistance for complex paperwork.
WHERE WILL ALL THESE THINGS TAKE PLACE?
🌳For now, we will do what we do best- Pop Up Safe Spaces throughout the neighborhood! We'll use church basements, borrow space from our friends at Wilmington Housing Authority and in neighbor homes. By the end of 2028 we hope to launch a brick and mortar COMMUNITY HUB, where neighbors can gather, grow, and work together.
We can't Reclaim HOPE and Reclaim HOME without YOU! Check in tomorrow to learn how YOU can join the work in a fresh way with your time and talents!
